The shaman talents were the hardest to decipher for me, but that may just be because I haven't played a shaman since the end of BC.
So i'm looking at
this kind of spec for PVP?
Edited, Sep 24th 2012 3:42pm by Bigdaddyjug Death Pact is pretty much a must for Unholy PvP (since you have a perma-ghoul). Being able to get a few Death Pacts per match is pretty ridiculous since it looks like it may not be affected by things like Wound Poison, MS, etc.
For a resto shaman, I would personally do
this (keep in mind I've just played with shamans and seen them played, I've never actually played one).
Tier 1: Nature's Guardian vs Astral Shift is a tough one. Generally you want to avoid any talents that give you a totem with a cooldown, as it's incredibly easy to tab-target to a totem and kill it. Nature's Guardian is useful because it gives you an extra 25% health for 10 secs, allowing you an "oh ****" moment while you heal yourself. The 30 sec cooldown doesn't hurt either.
Tier 2: Earthgrab Totem is absolutely insane. 5 sec root and then automatic application of a 50% snare? It's basically a hunter's Frost Trap. Drop that on a pillar and kite all day.
Tier 3: Earthgrab Totem makes Totemic Restoration a great talent. Reducing your cooldowns of essential totems (Mana Tide especially for Priest match ups) when they're destroyed will help a lot. Totemic Projection is also a possibility, but I like it a lot less as it requires micro-managing your totems. As a shaman healer, your best ability is going to be sitting on a LOS object as much as possible and just kiting scrubs around it, and Projection is more for mobility.
Tier 4: Ancestral Swiftness vs Echo of the Elements is a toss up. I think I'd personally prefer EotE because it's free healing (and can provide burst healing), but without knowing it's proc rate, it's tough to judge. On top of that, it's hard to pass up an insta-heal (especially if you combine that with an Unleashed Element heal).
Tier 5: Ancestral Guidance is basically splash healing that you don't have to think about. Again, can be paired with Ancestral Swiftness and an Unleashed Elements heal for one massive heal and one that's 40% of that, basically allowing you to top two people off.
Tier 6: Unleashed Fury adds to the "oh ****" heals you've got, basically using a small instant heal followed by your biggest heal instant casted at 50% increased healing done. That in turn has 40% of that total splashed onto another target.
It will definitely require some playing around with and experience (along with some personal preference) but this looks pretty solid.
