Question about DKsFollow

First off, I am not trying to troll, I am genuinely curious about this. Currently I have a 38 pally, and my goal is to hit 55 for a DK, only doing dungeons in order to hit 55. Is it worth it for a DK? I have been told by others that they are overplayed. Ive not got one character to 55 so I have no idea, thanks.

DK isn't as overplayed now a days. Was bad earlier in the xpac but most of the terrible DKs went back to there mains.

Only using the finder to level when you are going to drop the toon for a DK is silly though. Questing is faster.

Actually, a mix of both is fastest.

Do dungeons when you have rested XP and then run quests once your rested XP runs out. If you're playing every day, it usually means doing one dungeon when you log on and then questing for the rest of the day.

At your levels, though, I'd stick to PvP and dungeons for faster leveling. Especially if your Paladin is Protection or Holy spec'd.

LFD can be a nightmare though, even for tanks with the faster queue. Questing is reliable.

I don't like BG xp until AV is an option as the others don't give a whole lot, the change of pace is often worth it though.

Questing while in the queue is usually your best bet. Especially when the dungeon options still can give gear that will be a big upgrade that will last for a while and you have some rested xp to work with.

Dungeon finder gets better tBC and beyond as vanilla dungeons are huge and the drops aren't as reliably good in quality.

Since the goal is level 55 here, I'm going to stick to my opinion that dungeons + PvP is the way to go.

Vanilla: Dungeons + (daily) Battleground
Outland: Questing + daily Battleground
Northrend: Questing + daily Battleground

In the weekends you get craploads of XP from doing PvP due to the holiday bonus thing. The daily Battleground in weekends easily gave me half a level pre-Outland. And the XP/hour in WSG and AB isn't as bad as you'd think, especially not since people started rushing in low level AV. And being Horde, AV can be a pain.

For BGs should I stay Prot specced? Or is that going to be a problem?

Don't forget that you need to be questing while you wait, though--that needs to be factored into the math. Your wait to enter a queue can be longer than the time spent in the instance (BGs included), so just sitting around waiting will make it way worse exp than just grinding. Be sure you are doing something while you wait. Don't just meander in game.

Personally, I don't like nonstop PvP leveling, since I hate being level 30 in a level 39 bracket. I feel useless, and I reduce the team's chances for a win.

I'd quest+dungeons in the x0-x5/6 period of a level range. After that, if the BG weekend is something you can enter (WG or AB), level and PvP. If it isn't a weekend, do whichever you prefer--they're probably close. And it REALLY depends on your range. Scarlet Monastery-Graveyard is crap Exp (and boring as hell). But when you first enter BRD, it is pretty damn good exp, since you can farm it by going straight to the end boss through some trash and requeuing.

I'm leveling a Prot Warrior through Dungeons and BGs.
If your pally is tank you should have very fast Qs up until about 40 (for dungeons).
For some reason tanks/heals drop off and you go from almost instant Qs to sometimes needing to wait 10+min.

Now if your pally is DPS (prot dps?), waits for dungeons can be anywhere from 10+min at pretty much all levels.

So I ask you OP, what do you plan to do when you become a DK?
Tank or DPS?

If you plan on tanking, you already have a basic knowledge of how to (your last post said you are prot, just assuming you are). Then when you are a DK (that starts at 55, and gets out of the DK area at 58) all you have to do is quest 2 levels and you can tank again (You will make people happier if you don't tank 58-60. When you are lv60 you get Death and Decay, an AE that will help you with groups).

If you plan to stay DPS, you need to do as others have said and start questing while you wait in Qs.

To your question about Prot pally in PvP..I've never played a pally, but if the prot spec is similar to the Warrior's..you are a tank (and should then have the HP/Def). Therefor you should be running flags (WSG) and playing D with a healer (AB), and staying with the "zerg" group to tank generals in AV. People will like you.

Prot pally is very powerful at lower level pvp, it has damage not noticably lower than ret and a lot more utility. You'll dominate normal melee classes.

As for leveling, doing dungeons is great for variety, for breaking up the monotony of questing and excellent for learning your chosen role in a group. It's been discussed to death, but the fastest way to level is optimized quest circuits, something like following Jame's leveling guide. This includes dungeons you have 5 or 6 quests for, as they are a very efficient quest circuit with boosted xp and gear from mobs.
