I actually made it! After having absolutely no interest in playing/leveling my hunter from 70-80, I found enough free time and motivation to level toon number 8 through Northrend.
Stuck on a dead realm, no heirlooms... But the lack of motivation resulted in plenty of double XP that thanks to the cross-realm groups got me out of questing in dead areas for the most part.
How pathetic! Until level 75 and my first trip to VH I was still using my old Kara x-bow. Melee weapon until 80? The damn old Gladiator Axe I had purchased during the last days of TBC...
So now I'm doing the usual, doing old heroics for emblems, the ICC ones for the odd piece of gear, leveling all my pets and chasing spirit beasts to tame.
It's kinda sad. I have so many cool tools and abilities now, but they all seem to come an expansion too late. Oh how much would I have loved to play my current SV spec in TBC heroics, especially places like Magister's Terrace!
With current heroics, though, I am utterly bored. Bosses die in 30 seconds or less, trash gets mowed down with Multi-Shot and Volley, and one of my major contributions seems to be Aspect of the Pack to speed things up between pulls. I'm being abused to bug Hadronox...
True moments of being useful seem rare. There is the odd Spellflinger that the tank didnt reach or just ignored, and I can put that darn thing to sleep or put it into an ice block before it has a chance to really hurt somebody, but other than that?
Really hoping that Cataclysm instances will bring just a little bit of the old style back. Not that I want to have to memorize every mob, every pull, use a bazillion raid marks and whatnot, but... Hell, just a little bit of that, please!
This hunter was my 2nd toon overall. The 2nd to get to level 70, and the first one to set foot into wonderful Karazhan. Would be damn nice if Blizzard would give me reasons to make it the 2nd one to reach 85 rather than being the last on my leveling list as it was this time around.
There is something really positive, though. My T9 armor that I've earned through all my AOE'ing perfectly matches the color of my Ironjaw wolf. So even if the two of us can't really play good at the moment, we sure as hell look good while doing so!
Oh, and the good thing about an empty AH is that I can't really spend any money. More and more of that precious gold is piling up from all the junk I get to sell, so I might even get to finally purchase epic flying skill before finally transferring off that dead place. So who knows what all this is good for?
Dunno if this is a rant or something. But they keep extending our maintenance, and I have nothing better to do, so I figured I'd share my thoughts.
