I needed a new topic (bored), and after seeing Smoopie's post in the Alt's topic (and considering my never-ending joy waiting for that damn Althor's Abacus to drop), I thought I'd ask how many of you still use Illustration of the Dragon Soul in your ICC gear sets...and how well this works for you. I have the trinket...sitting in by bank collecting virtual dust.
Currently I'm using Sliver of Pure Ice and Solace of the Defeated in my normal set. On most fights I don't have mana issues, and thought perhaps replacing Sliver w/ Illustration would be good for throughput...especially on fights like Blood Queen where throughput seems critical.
Thoughts and experiences are most welcome. :)

If I played my priest more than 10 hours a month I'de pick up the Lunar dust badge one for regen
I have only done the 2 wings on my priest as disc so I can't really comment on how mana starved the rest are (hi infest)
But with hymm/fiend/and the occasional mana potion I never really felt low on mana with rapture powering me up
I would rock the dragonsoul over the ice just because I can't see 1600 mana ever doing much for me

Well, it's on a 2 min CD and I macro it to Prayer of Healing...so I get it approximately 3 times a fight...so it's more like 4800+ mana.
I don't think I ever bothered even getting it. Seeing as my main spec is disc it isn't all that good. Currently, for holy, I use the Spark of Hope and Althors Abacus. Not that Althors' is that good, but this is mostly because if a trinket doesn't provide throughput, it provides some kind of mana regeneration - which I don't need. Occasionally, on some fights (Festergut?), I still use the Soul Preserver for insanely good renegeration and oo5sr goodness.

Yah I would see using it as holy, but not as disc personally.

Right now you have the int trinket
200 sp for 6 mins
or
599 sp for 40 seconds
At the end of the day trinkets and gems come down to prefrence though but I wouldn't call either bad

I think you have me and Margeux mixxed up there? I was talking about the Illustration of the Dragon soul; the one that gives 180 spirit. Which equals to 0 spellpower as disc.

Ahh, I see, you're right. Both dragons and both "semi-permanent stat increases". I never got that one either, though yes, it would possibly replace my Althor's Abacus on a number of the fights. The thing simply is that once you reach certain gear levels your crit, int, spirit and mp5 go so high that if you don't care about haste like me, the only logical thing to do is focus on throughput (as you crit like hell anyway and never run OOM).
IDS never liked my rolls much... Solace simply never dropped for me. I had given up on EotBM until it dropped on a weekly badge run a few weeks ago (gee thanks, almost a year later...) I did win Sliver about a week before I picked up the Lunar Dust trinket, and I must say that I do like it. I will couple the Lunar Dust with either the Talisman if there is expected burst healing, or the Sliver if not. What's not to like about spellpower? =)
It does get me thinking about changing metas though. Mana is not so much an issue for me and I am playing with the idea of changing to either the ESD or the Revitalizing. The Revitalizing looks sexy enough and I'm beginning to think that the level of gear is outscaling the IED's 600mana/45 sec. The intellect on it surely is lesser than the ESD. (If you have less than 1050 int and heading into ICC, then you are in the wrong forum...)
Something new to try anyway, since my trove of trinkets is paltry. =(

Welcome to the club. I've swapped to the Revitalizing for the same reason as well. Mana really never is an issue anymore - in IcC I've only ran out twice; once on Festergut where I messed up my rotation and used the wrong trinkets and once on Valithria when I got frostbolted stuck in a mana-sucking pool while having to Penance the tank and somehow keep an entire group of DPS up. I don't care about haste and I've got more than enough crit (something like 45-50% raidbuffed nowadays). Which effectively makes intellect, spirit, haste, crit and mp5 all useless to me. Which in turn effectively means that spellpower/any kind of throughput is consistantly better than any other stat I can get, even if it's 5 spellpower versus 20 intellect.
