When 3.3 hits this afternoon there will be a fairly heavy nerf t the IA mechanic. Are you changing your spec?

At this point the majority of the time I have IA up it's due to mana shield. As an arcane mage I'm always starving for mana - mana shield eats mana...

So - does the IA spec go the way of the FFB spec?

Probably shouldn't be using mana shield unless it is a life saving time, especially pre-3.3 but I know some did use it a one time or another... That being said IA spec isn't going away, it is still useful on multiple fights it could go the way of using two arcane specs though.

I don't use it often, but on Ony Bloodlust, pop trinkets phase 3... I'll admit I've popped it out. I'm not sure if it stacks with the fire ward...

Please keep us informed of any changes. TY.

A mage I raid with is really excited to go back to fire, at least to try and see if he can get decent DPS with it.

Even though I still hate that f-ing water elemental, I'll be trying frost in 10 mans more often until we move to heroics (which may be next week... hopefully).

It's been quite a while since another spec was really viable in raids, I think a lot of us are just bored with arcane right now.

It has more to do with the buffs to frost and fire, and less to do with the IA nerf. IA (for me) has been a nice bonus, but not something I could count on having "work right" every raid, sometimes we just didn't have a good disc priest. I plan to spec out of IA.

to avoid confused and editing my second post, IA is now worth dropping for the majority of the fights in ICC. If you have a second spec that has IA 3/3 in it that is great, otherwise look to spend the points in magic absorption instead.

something like that (I like to have the slow talent for a few of the fights like Deathwhisper, Dreamwalker, Saurfang, and Lich King). I assume points could be moved out of meditation into SotM if you want to, I would keep the points in the frost barrier so that you can still get mana back on frost absorbs, or put it into ice shards for more AoE power, up to you really.

How would a spec like that look like? Doesn't FFB mean 0/A lot/rest? IA seems to be way too high to pick up in a FFB spec, unless I'm doing it wrong.

I'm pretty sure he means "go the way of" as in "die like FFB did".

Ah, that makes sense. I'm not hardcore enough to understand mage inside jokes yet =(
