boomkins and controllersFollow

#1 Mar 22 2010 at 4:43 PM Rating: Decent

hey folks, long time creeper, first time poster.

has anyone over considered using a gaming controller for your boomkin? consider an old school snes controller:

A: wrath
B: starfire
X: dot
Y: dot
L: aoe
R: starfall

most boss fights do not require an aoe, so replace with trents, entangling roots or whatever is needed, of course a gaming controller doens't necessarily have 6 buttons, but i don't actually have a controller. for those who may have tried this, was it more inconvenient than convenient? was it more annoying to switch 'hotkeys' than it was to use the controller?

thanks for reading!

Umm how would you:

Select a target
Switch targets
BRez somebody
Switch forms
Use items

A controller may be feasible if you have some more buttons. Me, I'll be sticking to the keyboard+mouse.

Unlike FFXI, World of Warcraft isn't made for Xbox or Playstation. Pretty much because of the reasons above. A lot of the activity in the game is 'point and click', something that would most likely drive most people crazy if they were to use a controller (compare it to playing a FPS game without auto-aim).

Unless you've never seen a PC in your life, I can see no gain by switching from mouse and keyboard to a controller.

And as mentioned, you're missing a few spells on your list. Spells that aren't necessary, but still should be kept available at all times. Healing spells and such.

Just get this

A mouse with 12 thumb buttons! You get all the nice buttons for everything while keeping the point and click capability!.

Or you could get a keyboard and use your thumbs to press the various keys.

I've never been a fan of consoles, so I don't get the obsession with these controllers. Oh, look, it's like a steering wheel, except it's not, but there are lots of pretty buttons on it. Let's play first-person shooters with auto-aim because this crap clearly wasn't meant to be played with a controller - ever.
