Hey guys. I have recently switched my elemental/enhance duel spec to elemental/resto in hopes of not having to wait in those 10-20 minute dps queue times for heroics. I have very little previous healing experience and am wondering what a good starting spot would be? Possibly regular Wotlk instances or could I jump into heroics and pick it up pretty fast? I am also wondering if a mix between a few 200 ilevel resto pieces and some 232/219 ele pieces would pass for a beginner resto set? Also any other advice or guidance to another thread would be greatly appreciated as I have looked but not very thoroughly. Lastly, what addons would be helpful for healing in general? Thanks in advance for any replies. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Spinebreaker&cn=Ar%C3%A8s
my armory. This is without the 4ish or so resto pieces I have that are 200i level.

Check out this post on EJ:

The LFG tool is pretty good at putting you in groups you can heal. You could definitely heal some heroics, but probably limited amount, and the tool will lock you out of some (TOC and ICC 5mans) at this point, I think. You could probly heal some ICC pug trash runs to get your ring. I'm not sure what else, since I'm pretty new myself.

I use healbot at this time, though I'm told that grid + clique is superior. Just haven't felt like trying to config a whole new thing yet.

Spec is good, just need to learn how to behave when healing.

The biggest thing to fix is hit rating. The pieces you need to focus on first are the ones that have hit. Shield needs replacing. Both trinkets need replacing.

As long as you are not mana starved, mixing ele/resto gear should work okay. Given how easy it is to gear up as a tank, the vast majority of tanks you run into should be rolling with 30k+ health.

The biggest detrement I see right now is that your mana regen is bad. Really bad. Resto is definitely more mana intensive than Elemental. I can't think of a fight so far where I have run out of mana while Ele, but I can remember oh so many when healing before I got enough MP5.

Run reg PoS (ICC 5 Man) for the shield I'm currently wearing. It's a huge upgrade for you and you cna chain run it. I'll warn you though, it took me 19 runs to get mine.

Reg ToC has a great healing trinket and you can buy the 128 int Triumph trinket for the other.

Chain Random Heroic as much as you can and the resto gear will come pouring in. Don't worry about grabbing cloth or leather. Even if it's a lower iLvl than your Ele gear, true Healing gear will be much more effective while building a Triumph set.
