It's about that time again. I am about done with my healing set and am thinking about building up a shadow set. With a couple OS drops here and there, I have assembled a dps kit (currently logged out in my shadow setup) and went to work on a dummy. I can manage just over 4k dps on it on a 3-minute run doing flat dps. Meh, not too shabby, not too spectacular. I took a stroll through FoS to see how much dps I could do in a live fire excercise. Of course I sucked on the trash pulls, trying different methods between tab-dotting and Mind Sear, but the numbers on the bosses weren't too bad.

As far as the standard gear goes, I have a good line on what I want to get, although Blizz will probably change the 4-piece bonus just as I get it, just like they did with the healing set (grrr, I loved that proc as Disc, as Holy it was ok but not earth-shattering). I am currently a bit over hit, but that will change once I get the 264 healing legs (gotta love Blizz when the Holy gear is better than the Shadow gear for dps =O ) or the legs off of Festergut, whichever comes first.

I originally went with my standard shadow spec, but with a couple of tests, I realize that I can't give away my mana and will change a couple things -although I will not shell out the gold to trade my Ashen Verdict ring back and forth, the only difference is hit vs mp5. I'm going to drop points out of Focused Mind in favor of Veiled Shadows to get the imp out a bit more for dps.

My real concerns are building haste and assembling trinkets. I find it difficult to not use the emblem trinket and the Sliver due to the SP alone, but I am looking for other choices that may be better. I've seen posts on shadowpriest.com that favor the Ice Crystal due to it's supposed ability to allow SW:P to maintain the crit rate from it throughout its refreshed state, but 47 SP difference makes me wonder at the tradeoff. Also, Abyssal Rune always seems like such a good choice even though it is an 200 trinket. I guess I will have to try out a bunch of combinations to see what the results are.

So any suggestions? My gemming has gone under the guidelines of Red=SP, Blue=SP+Sprt and Yellow=SP+Haste when chasing the bonus, there are a few exceptions to this where the gear is shared by healing set or for JC gems, but for the most part I am satisfied with the results except that I feel that both my crit and haste is too low (but I doubt I will ever feel different about that).

LOL, I saw that!

Grats are definitely in order for that.

Best I could do in my pseudo-Holy dps spec was ~2500. I spec into a single target Holy spec for Dreamwalker once a week. Makes for some good smite spams. =)
