Are daggers considered terrible for a warrior?

A while back i had a lvl 48 Epic Dagger drop and its sat in my bank for a long time. I am currently leveling up a warrior alt who is only about 10 levels shy of using this dagger.

I put mongoose on it and i figured it would be a great off hand from lvl 48 until mostly outlands.

any reason an off hand dagger would be terrible?

A MH dagger is obviously a big "no" due to the lower normalization constant for dagger (1.7) compared with other 1H weapons (2.4).

With an OH, you'd lose some DPS on Whirlwind again due to normalization. Bloodthirst (AP) and melee (DPS) shouldn't have too much of a difference.

A similar level epic 1H axe or sword would give you more damage, but it's up to you whether it matters. You certainly won't have a ton of trouble leveling either way.

Crusader would probably give you more bang than Mongoose though.

Proc based enchants are generally bad for offhand weapons since they can only proc off offhand white hits which miss a lot. When you bloodthirst or heroic strike it's hitting with the mainhand weapon. If the mainhand weapon has a proc, or a proc enchant each special ability you use adds a chance for a proc. Whirlwind might proc offhand weapon enchants actually.

Maybe consider selling the dagger and spending the gold on a weapon more suited to your warrior? Probably alot of leveling rogues out there that wouldn't mind an epic dagger with goose already applied.

My two pennies, take 'em or give 'em to a bum. All the same to the clam.
