enhancing, what to gem ?Follow

#1 Mar 03 2010 at 7:59 PM Rating: Decent
Hello, quick question pertaining to gems for enhancing shamans. There is so many stats to look out for that I am unsure what to gem toward to. I am only starting to buy my Triumph stuff and would like the best bang for my buck as far as gems go.

Right now, I am sitting at 550 hit rating and 30% crit chance and 116 haste rating. Following this link I am a bit shy on hit too http://wow-heroes.com/hitcalculator.php

Should I aim for more haste since it's low ? or is more crit % always better ? or maybe Agi since it enhances the overall performance ? I have seen some shamans gem for expertise, I thought that was a pvp stat ?

Can someone please shed some light on how to gem correctly ?

Thanks

Expertise is a PvE stat. It's not very useful in PvP.

I havent played enhance since leveling but when I cruised some forums recently it seemed that haste was becoming the prime stat. My 2cs. I think your hit is high enough -- you mainly wanna hit spell hit cap, not worth it to ensure every offhand swing lands. Someone who actually raids enhance can certainly correct me.

Your hit is plenty high enough. In fact you could stand to lose some if it'd help you get other stats. Remember that after capping specials and spell hits, while more hit isn't bad(increases white dmg) other stats are better.

Optimal gems depend on what your current gear is. Usually you want to prioritize gems in this order:

Hit(+20)(if under cap)
Expertise(+20)(if under cap)
Attack Power(+40)
Haste(+20)

Depending on gear, values of Haste and Attack Power will change relative to each other. The point at which haste becomes better is into ICC-level gear I believe. EJ forums will have more info on how to run a simulation for your character.
