I'm sure this is someplace but I would like a quick answer to the best professions for a warrior tank. I'm maxed at skinning (+ 40? crit strike) and at mining (+40 stamina). Thinking the BS sockets could mitigate each of these (skinning most) but what else?

Yes, while BS and JC are probably best in profession for probably everyone.

No profession is gonna make or break your game.

BS and JC are great because they allow flexibility - when you're gearing for tanking they give stamina and if you want to DPS they give DPS stats.

In terms of pure tanking, Leatherworking actually provides the highest stamina bonus of any profession (+82 stamina) gives +62 stamina (102 stamina vs. 40 stamina to wrists).

JC is next with 63 stamina (3x 51 stam gems vs. 3x 30 stamina gems).

BS (2 sockets x 30 stamina), Mining (60 stam), and Enchanting (2x rings @ 30 stam) all give 60 stamina.

Engineering gives +armor to gloves, which is nice, but most people would go for stamina first.

Skinning, Alchemy, Inscription and Tailoring are all very meh.

EDIT: Thanks for catching the LW error, Sgriob. Apparently, I was unable to do proper maths at the time I wrote this.

What, in y'alls opinion, is the best BS Path to go? Weapon (and what one) or Armor?
My Warrior isn't at the right level to decide yet but I figured I'd ask.

It doesnt really matter any more. They are the same once you hit Northrend. In bc, it was usually armorsmith for tanks, weaponsmith for dps, although the weaponsmith imo had way better items. Stunherald ftw!

That's true. They haven't implemented any recipies in all WotLK. So for endgame it's all the same. It won't be too big of a difference earlier since you will outgear anything you can make quickly.

Levelling specialisations can be very pricy. Armorsmith (which I levellled in TBC)requires quite a lot of mithril and thorium so unless you have farming alt and abundance of time costs outweigh profits greatly. I can't remember mats for weaponsmithing but it can't be much better. All in all: I wouldn't bother.

You can become a weapon-smith much easier, and then change to an armor-smith, if you where ever so inclined. It saves time and mats. Blizz added a change specialization option to the trainers, before then you had to unlearn your skill and level it up like you never had it before to change your specialization.

So, it's much much easier now.

Just wondering as I had planned to lvl my Warrior through LFG (so far so good) until Northrend.
The only gear I have on is the BoA Chest/Shoulders/Mace/Trinkets on, so all other gear would need to be made (I've done ZERO quests from the moment I hit 15, and I'm not lv29). But I didn't know there were no Northrend recipes, so I may just go Armorsmith to help fill in slots on gear that I don't get through Randoms.

He is also a JC. Fun fun these two professions are on the same toon lol. My DK can farm all day and it only takes 20-30min to use up the mats XD

Thats not quite right, the Leather Working enchant is 103 stamina, and the alternative is 40 stamina enchant, making LW give 63 stamina(the same as JC)
