I'm a Lvl 10 Tauran Hunter,
Yaw Sharpmane gave me the quest to tame animals on the 3rd one, taming the swoop, I ran out of charges on the taming rod then dropped it, now i can't seam to get a replacement taming rod to finish the quest to get my pet permanantly, am I screwed or do I just not know how to replace the rod?

Drop the quest and then accept it again.

Alrighty a couple things to remember then, just make sure to dump all your talent points into one talent tree until level 60. (beast Mastery is great for leveling).
Don't go questing without your arrows, and don't take your gun to town son, leave your guns at home Bill. Don't take you guns to town... I'm just kidding, Johnny Cash reference FTW?

They're cute alright, but they make a mess of the carpets.
I keep mine in a cage, he's fire specced so it's fun to watch him try and melt the bars.....then throw a freezing trap.
Crabs named Aethien or Æthien are the best pets.
