Hello Everyone:
I am trying to create a macro that will cast three lightning bolts and then cast an attack. I can’t get it to work. I have tried,
/castsequence Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Attack
And the same thing without the comas?
What am I doing wrong?

Does it cast the 3 LB's correctly? That part looks right. I don't think that Attack is the proper command to begin the Autoattack.
To start auto-attacking, you would use /startattack
Your addon would look like this:
/startattack
/cast lightning bolt
And you use it three times. Edit: Or however many times you want to cast lightning bolt.

Does /castsequence move on if you hit the key while it's performing an action?
In any case, don't use macros for that sort of stuff, it goes horribly bad if you encounter unforeseen events. I only use macros for my healing spells so I can heal people without having to target them (mouseover macros are awesome).

Please "talk up" if your comprehension white-shifts. I will use simple-happy language-words to help you understand.
I'm going to go with Mazra on that. Macros are best use for conditional things, not for automating combat. I use macros so that I can push one button for one ability and it will respond based on my target (ie. friendly, monster, etc.) In your case, you're probably better of having one button for your lightning bolt and one button to start your auto attack. I know you weren't asking for a critique of your choice to try and set up the macro, but try to think of it as a friendly suggestion that will only benefit you on down the line.

All it does is not cast 3 lightning bolts, just one! That’s the one with the coma’s the one without doesn’t do a thing.

That's because...
/castsequence Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Bolt
...will cast Lightning Bolt once every time you click it. Once three Lightning Bolts have been cast, it will reset the macro. Since you're only using Lightning Bolt in that macro, you'll only see Lightning Bolts being cast. Effectively it's no different from...
/cast Lightning Bolt
...which is just like using no macro in the first place. If you wrote it...
/castsequence Flame Shock, Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning
...you'd notice that the first time you click it, it will cast Flame Shock, the second time you click it, it will cast Lightning Bolt and the third time Chain Lightning. After the last spell it will reset back to Flame Shock and so on.
You cannot make macros that will automate your playing, though. In other words, you can't make a macro that will cast three Lightning Bolts for you. You have to click each time you want it to cast a new spell, or one more of the same type. This is to prevent people from making macros that would play the game for them.

I use /startattack as the first line in many of my melee toons "start" abilities (Icy Touch/Howling Blast, Mutilate, Flame Shock, Judgement, etc. It's partly just a way to get an additional swing in. I noticed that if I let auto-attack fire automatically after casting whatever, the swing timer would start after the cast landed. But mainly it's a convenient thing for soloing. I can hit a ranged ability and not worry about starting auto-attack as I run up on that pesky quest mob.
On my shaman I tied /startattack to both Flame/Earth Shock and Lightning Bolt exactly as noted above by Ehcks.
