I just joined a new guild and I've regeared my mage (Post-Hack). I haven't raided with him yet - just heroics and the occasional trip to Naxx cause a randome PuG was LF Dps...
Here's my issue. A week ago I wasn't even close to hit cap. I had maybe 6%. But I was in heroics and on bosses that didn't have a crazy amount of movement I would pull 3 - 5k DPS. Much of this was because my rotation was AB until about 3000 mana was burned, then Gem, then AB till /oom, then Evocate. *Hey it was a heroic - most fights last about 60 seconds at best...
Despite not being hit capped - my gear was really heavy on haste and crit. Now - I'm hit capped and noticing a significant drop in DPS. Is this because the chance to miss a heroic boss is negligable and my haste/Crit more than made up for it.
I'm currently a little too high over Hit Cap (Due to getting a new piece and needing to replace a Gem or two that was previously a Hit Gem.
So - my question - is this normal? (Tanks experience something similar at Def-Cap. Lower quality tanking gear is very heavy on Defense - to get the to Def cap quickly. Suddenly they will get a new epic piece that is dramagically lower... Thus causing them to need to juggle gear.) Is it the same with mage DPS?
