Rotations are fairly simple. This is what I use.
On a boss fight:
1. Garrote
2. Hunger for Blood
3. Slice and Dice-with the 1 combo point that Garrote gave me.
4. Pop trinkets and use cold blood
5. Mutilate
6. Envenom
If you don't have a feral druid, or arms/fury warrior in your group, then you need to apply rupture to the target. I don't if I have someone else providing bleeds, though. After that, it's rinse and repeat.
I probably pop my trinkets earlier than most people, but that's only because I try to use them as much as possible. However, I haven't raided on my rogue in awhile. So, if there is a boss that it's absolutely necessary to way a certain phase before you pop your cooldowns, then do so. I use mine early so I can have them for the next boss in a dungeon.
On Trash:
1. Cheap Shot/Garrote-this depends on how good the tank is, or what kind of mob it is. If the tank is a little under-geared, I'll always Cheap Shot to help him out.
2. Slice and Dice-If I garrote, I'll hit Hunger for blood, too.
3. Fan of Knives- Only if there are more than 2 mobs. It's really a waste of energy if you're not hitting at least three targets with FoK.
I make sure I try to keep slice and dice up while I white damage one of the targets while I'm using FoK.
ETA: I set focus on the tank and I have Tricks of the Trade macro'd to my focus target. I use it every time it comes off of cooldown.
