Trinket?Follow

I'm starting to tank heroics and I need a major overhaul especially in my trinket department. Right now I'm using the jewelcrafter's crab, which seems to still work fine for me at least for the moment.

Still working towards a chest piece and cloak, but at least I have an idea of where to go with that.

But my other trinket .... 26 defense rating and increase health for blah amount of seconds. I'm not sure what's my best option at replacing it asap.

Anything else you can slap me around about regarding my gear would be appreciated. Remember I'm pretty much starting out an my focus is on heroics atm. I'm still a baby tank. :

Ok I just saw Ick's Rotting Thumb from POS. You think this would be my best bet?

Ick's thumb is not a bad trinket, but it's not a good one either.

The Black Heart is your best bet for a second pre-raid trinket. Stamina is a fantastic stat, and the proc is very strong.

Replace your avoidance and defense rating gems with straight +stamina (+54 stamina when possible). Use a Stam/dodge gem to activate your meta gem.

Combined, these two would add ~3k HP before buffs.

In terms of gear overall - replace your Chest and Wrists ASAP. Pre-ToC25, best-in-slot for both slots are going to be BoE (Saronite Swordbreakers, Breastplate of the White Knight). Luckily you're a miner so you can get the Titansteel you need. Even if you don't want to buy them though, there are very big upgrades from raiding / heroics / ICC 5 mans / badges. Cloak too, though the pickings are a little slimmer there (219 from reg. HoR IIRC, 213 from trading badges down ... ugh).

I'd recommend running normal ToC5 and normal Frozen Halls for some pretty substantial gear upgrades.

Enchants are on the right path - get a shoulder enchant ASAP. Your weapon / shield enchants are sub-optimal.

As it is you're "fine" for most heroics, but you could step up your survivability a lot with a few upgrades.

The Black Heart. Yes I completely forgot about that.

And yes I'm currently doing the quest line for the shoulder enchant. I instanced until 80 and should have taken some time out to do this earlier.

I'm probably going to have to do some runs, and take my chance on gear since I'm low on gold at the moment. The items you mentioned are very pricey in the AH, and the guild I am in is basically at the same level I am atm. I could farm and spam for crafters. It may take me a bit.

But yes that one trinket has been bugging the hell out of me and the Black Heart would be perfect.

The gear I mentioned IS expensive, though not as bad as the BoE 264 gear. I only mentioned it because you can farm the mats pretty easily as a miner and you won't find anything better before ToC25 or ICC gear. There are plenty of upgrades even before the 245 BoE gear though. Chest you can get a fairly good one for Triumph badges (T9 chest). Bracers are a little harder.

Also, depending how far along the Hodir questline you are, you could run a WG or two and pick up the +30 stamina shoulder enchant for ~10k Honor to hold you over. You're probably going to want to grind some honor eventually for the 2 min PVP trinket anyway.

Ok so I farmed and bought wrists, changed around some gems, and finally the Black Heart Dropped.

I finally caught up to my guildies who are not very familiar with my tank (I've done pugging rather than have them carry me) ... enough to do heroic ICC instances. I was extremely delighted to have them carry on about my good tanking skills in guild chat. On most toons I'm just a so-so player.

I just don't see how I'm going to get my stamina and gear score up there enough to do some of the pugs I'm seeing for raids.
