Ok this question is a bit noobish but I just want to get ti straight when other curses should be used. I almost always use Agony, unless I have a decent Mage, second warlock, or Elemental Shammy in my group then I use Elements. Now after reading a few posts, I have noticed a few people mentioning that they use Doom. I have never considered using CoD in a group or raid. When would I want to use this curse? I am an affliction lock with CoA improved. Thanks in advance.

If you have moonkin or unholy DK in group/raid you use CoD if fight is longer than 1 min.If it's shorter, then you use CoA.If you dont have uh DK or moonkin, use CoE.

Cheers.

CoE is a 13% increase to all of your damage...

Why in the world wouldn't it be your default curse?!?!

Moonkin and Unholy provide it their normal rotations with 0 personal DPS loss.

That would be why.

What Horse said, plus, in Affliction spec with improved CoA and everything else taken, things like Drain Soul become more effective with more DoTs rolling. CoA is one of the staples of Affliction along with Corruption & Unstable Affliction. It usually works out to 20-ish% of my damage (iirc, haven't run in affliction in awhile) so giving up 20 to gain 13 . . .

Though I suppose a case could be made that by saving on gcd by casting CoE once vs. CoA in rotation you may be able to squeeze an extra couple Bolts in. May have to play with this idea. It would simplify the rotation since Corruption gets perma-refreshed now, after rotation 1 you'd just have to keep Haunt & UA up and spam SBs then Drain at 25%.

CoE, Haunt, Corr, UA, SB, SB, SB, Haunt, UA, drain

It would actually look a lot more like the Destro rotation CoE, Imm, CB, Conf, Incin, Incin, Incin, Conf, Imm, repeat

Not sure how it would stack up as far as DPS is concerned though.

Now in my Destruction spec, CoE is far more viable as CoA isn't buffed, and doesn't boost anything else. I never throw out CoA in destro. I will put up Corr if I need to move out of something because I'm not losing rotation time. But CoE is the go-to for me except in the new trio of 5-mans; I have found using Curse of Tongues handy on many of the casters is making things go smoother (though yes, it drops my dps a bit.) The Flamecasters in PoS, the priests/mages in stage 1 of HoR, and the Shadowcasters in the chase portion all seem to be noticably easier to deal with with Tongues on them.

Because it[CoE] is only 13%, so for it to be better, more than just me needs to be benefiting from it.

This is accurate for Demo/Desto builds, but Affliction locks use CoA if they don't have to provide CoE.

Because assuming your default is anything less than ideal is stupid.

CoE is the exception, not the rule, because there are two other classes that provide it all on their own, and without any personal sacrifice on their part. If you don't have those, then you make adjustments.

Theorycraft is all about ideal circumstances, you of ALL PEOPLE should know this.
