Hmmm... it would be interesting to take a survey on the priest forums and find out how many of us have, er, lost the bloom of youth, as it were.

How old are you?
20 or younger:9 (12.9%)
21 - 30:31 (44.3%)
31 - 40:19 (27.1%)
41 - 50:6 (8.6%)
51 - 60:4 (5.7%)
60+:1 (1.4%)
Total:70

Don't be afraid to answer, hunters are old too.

Oh right, I should mention how old I am too.

21 now, a little over a month until my birthday.

BTW, for people who don't read the main board, the OP was a suggestion that Disc Priest is the best class/spec for the aged. Smiley: lol
#8 Feb 05 2010 at 11:07 AM Rating: Good
I'm a month younger than Æth and I still play a Disc priest. I might offspec Shadow, though. I used to enjoy Shadow. I'm just not sure at all.

20 or lower. I just about still fit in there.

Huh, I was sure you were at least 27. How strange.

Edit: Also, I want a more perfect bell curve, like the Asylum had. :(

Ugh, I feel so young.

I hate posting my age, partly because of the stigma attached to it, however it's becoming less of a problem as I creep closer to dementia and assisted living.

I'm 16.

See, I think your post quality is quite good. At least since I started noticing you.
Certainly better than what Aeth and moi have been up to recently.

We have an awesome guildy who is 15 and while he can be a bit of a drama queen, he's a great person and often just makes me think, woah, my English was never that good at that age and it would probably still be rubbish if I didn't migrate so much.
Also, most of my classmates are 16-17 and there are a few who I'd consider friends; interestingly enough, some of them play WoW, too. On the other hand, my boyfriend is 22 and as immature as it gets. At least I realise that I'm another 10 years or so from being a real adult, and will be in education the whole time.

So basically, I just don't think it should matter as much as it does often.

On the other hand, my dad is somehow stuck at age 14, and I know this sounds arrogant but I really do believe that I've learned more from my life experiences than he has from his.

I'm tired. I don't even know why I'm ranting about my dad here. I haven't even seen him in 2 years.

Ah, that would explain =P. I guess you're right - I reckon most of my posts in the priest boards are decent. My rubbish posts are older and in class=4, with the ocassional one in general. It sometimes saddens me when I compare what I've written here to what I've written on the Escapist forums, though.

Also, Fish is right - the problem with young people is mostly the stigma attached to it. I definitely know what you're describing though, hence my earlier post. People aren't on your back so much if you're approaching your 20s.

Edit: 3,333d post. I wonder if that would count as a milestone on these boards for me.

When I started posting here, my English was at a much lower level than it is now. I didn't even consider myself fluent (I was, but not by my own standards). You can't have done much worse than that.

Which is incredibly stupid because while sometimes, people at college get on my nerves and are more immature than me, I nearly always pass as 17 IRL nowadays. It actually used to be the other way around, but I figure appearing younger can't be too bad.
Also, it's not like we're grown-ups at 20-21. Or at 28, for that matter. Neurochemically, there are still too many changes going on to really consider ourselves proper adults mentally.

Oh, but I was talking about the content of my posts. Without trying to sound arrogant, I've never really bothered with my English and started speaking it pretty much fluently when I joined WoW (at launch). It's just that on these forums some posters and posts are incredibly predictable and this draws out the worst in me from time to time. Whenever I compare stuff like the 2 page discussion I had with idiggory on the DK boards to some of the stuff I've written on different forums (try this, if you care enough) I just find my 'post quality' here to be really bleak. Enough of that, though.

To go back on-topic; we used to have a 16-year old muslim from the UAE in our guild. He was kind of 'the confused' type, but that didn't make him any less awesome. He was always overly enthousiastic and called the person who 'fixed' his DPS his "big sister" =P

What's weird is that certain individuals in my guild refer to me as "Chickenboy" thanks to my ever-present Westfall Chicken pet. No, seriously, it's always out.

Maybe I should get to work on a coming-of-age novel?

Nice. Hopefully you can beat it before I die.

And honestly, I haven't experienced the "stigma" attached to my age nearly as much as I did in the past. Say, two years ago, while I feel my posting wasn't exactly up to today's standard, it wasn't what I would consider something to be mocked.

I've become much less hesitant to reveal my age over time, as I've found that (like others above this said) the whole "kids = idiots" thing does tend to wear off as you approach your second decade of life.

However, actually not typing like an idiot helps.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that about a year and a half ago, someone I was talking to online was shocked when I told them my actual age. They had assumed by my proper grammar and punctuation that I was somewhere in my late 30's.
