# Death Knight:
# Frost Presence now provides 8% Stamina, up from 6% Stamina.
# Icebound Fortitude now provides 30% base damage reduction, up from 20% damage reduction. For a geared tank with high defense, this translates to 50% damage reduction, up from 40%.

Paladins got a bit of a nerf(4% instead of 8% stam from Sacred Duty).

I have to say, I'm liking both of those on our end. More stam makes me a happy DK, and of course, a CD doing more is also nice. That said, I am curious as to how the more experienced folks here think this will affect us, as I only have a general feeling of "Woo! This is good!" and would love to hear a more precise opinion on it.

I don't have any raid experience, but it is nothing but pleasure for my Heroic-level DK.

DKs had, I know, been lagging behind other tanks for raiding, where Paladins were without a doubt the top-tier tanks (and that goes for Heroics, too, but it's a moot point at those gear levels.

The IBF change won't be that noticeable in Heroics, but will probably be very nice for burst phases in raids. The 2% Stam, for my DK, is 470 health.

The only parts I can imagine it would really affect Heroic-level content is for the FH instances, or maybe for certain high-damage parts of ToC.

Nice change for me. And hopefully enough to balance the tanking field between the four classes for raids.

Finally!

Stamn boost is kinda nice but won't make that much of a difference. The Icebound buff is another story! We now have an almost real "ok healer, go get a coffee or something. See you in 18 sec" moment.

3 questions:
1) Is it already implimented? I broke the 40k health unbuffered when I looked at it today (frost tank) but the frost presence still say 6% stamina increase.
2) How will this affect the Glyph of Icebound Fortitude that grants you 30% regardless of your defense skill? Will it be buffered?
3) How much is high defense?

1) The tooltips won't be affected until the next patch.
2)Good question.
3)Someone on the Oboards is goofing around trying to see how high they can get it. He came up with a ridiculous number as possible. Beyond that, I've seen some armories at 587 or so defense skill.

1. No clue.

2. Shouldn't be any benefit at all. The glyph only has an affect if your IBF is naturally below 30%. I'm reasonably sure that 540 defense brings you above that--it's really only a PvP glyph (and a crappy one).

3.I'd say the average raid-geared DK has 565-570 Defense. Once you get good gear, you hit the soft-cap for Def with that alone, plus enchants or socket bonuses where pure stam isn't as good (or isn't an option). With SSG, that's 565 if you just hit cap with everything else.

FTFY =P

I have to say it did come at a right time for me - I decided to go back to tanking about three days ago.

Posted the same thing on the main forum, but don't underestimate the IBF buff.

Compared with the old IBF (~40%), the new IBF (~50%) will reduce your damage taken by around 17% more. Or another way of looking at it - the new IBF is 25% more powerful than its last (nerfed) incarnation.
