After further observations of the recent changes made to resilience and healing in PvP, we are making an additional change via an in-game fix so that the PvP healing debuff in Arenas, Battlegrounds, and Wintergrasp now also lowers the effectiveness of Power Word: Shield and Sacred Shield by 10%.

Nobody likes being nerfed, obviously, but at first I didn't complain, as it was not unexpected. But after playing for a couple of days I was about to get ready for a little QQ. From where I'm sitting the resilience changes are not balancing out the healing changes. I've been feeling REALLY weak and squishy, and it's unlikely that I just suddenly got worse right as this change went live. So when I saw a blue post about the healing nerf, I honestly thought it was going to say they'd pulled that 10% back to five or something. That they're nerfing even further surprises me.

My means of defending myself is just deflated. It was shield, PoM, and renew that were keeping me alive as much as it was resilience. At present my impression is that my heals are no longer sufficient to keep me or anyone else not wearing mail or plate alive against even a single opponent of reasonable skill. Maybe I'm overreacting because at the beginning of the season all the area peeps have to slum it in battlegrounds to get their offset pieces, so maybe I'm fighting better geared people. But this is where I'm at right now.

Now that the whine is out of the way, I'm considering how to best compensate. Originally I was looking at Intellect as a go-to stat for this round of gearing up (Int hybrids in red and blue slots, for example), because it seemed to me that they were trying to make fights more about longevity, and mana is always an issue for me because unlike arena, battleground fights don't freaking end. Now I'm thinking not so much. One option is to just try to maximize resilience for survivability. My yellow slots are already filled with resil gems, but I could do resil hybrids in the other slots, and the resil enchant for chest instead of stats. Or you could go the other direction and just gem for spellpower across the board to put your heals back where they were. What do you think? Time to transmute some Cardinal Rubies? (Side Note: Alchemy is such win, especially when paired with JC. Free epic gems.)

Edit: OR a girl could just buy crit pieces instead of haste and go back to Holy...

Tbh I don't think there's currently much hope. Some classes that have low burst will be completely unable to kill you AT ALL. Classes with enough burst will be able to 3-shot you. My money is on waiting for Cata.

When I dawn my resilience gear, I lose 10,000 mana and a good amount of mana regen and spellpower.

I'm thinking I'll just wear my pve gear and try not to get hit too much. I'm not much for pvp, so haven't really noticed the nerf yet.

I'd be interested to hear back from you how that goes. I know a goal of the resil change was to make PVP gear more important, but I'm not sure it's had that effect.

I switched from my usual Smite spec to my more defensive one for the present, will see if that helps until I get a bit better gear.

And yeah, mana pool in PVP gear is sad. I'm rocking 18.6k right now. And just over 2k SP. Smiley: lol
