GearingFollow

Hey all

So I'm one of the lowlier priests in training (only level 54) and I'm beginning to reach a bit of an impasse in terms of my toon.

I really don't know what sort of stats to look for in my gear, in terms of what is better etc.

Of the many pieces of loot that give int, spirit, spell power etc, what should I be looking for if I'm healing. (As in which is better)

I know it's a very general question and that what I'm looking for will probably change as I level, but at the moment.

Also, if I do change back to shadow, should I be using gear that gives hit rating over gear that gives more int or spirit?

Hope you guys can help, thanks

As a pre-80 healer, go for spell power and intellect.

Yes, as shadow get some hit gear.

Really, your gear is going to change rapidly as you level. Get what upgrades you can from quests and dungeons, and don't worry about it too much.

I stacked loads of spirit when I was specced Holy/Smite and started replacing it with Int and SP when I respecced Disc. Today, I had mana issues (read: below 50% mana) for the first time in BRD on this priest.

There's not that much choice anyway at lower levels, often it's a choice between 10 SP and 2 Spi, and that should be a no-brainer, really.

Basically see if you're comfortable with what you have and if you find that your heals aren't powerful enough or you don't have enough mana too often, prioritise accordingly.

Dadanox said everything else relevant, pretty much.

That about sums it up. For regen, Spirit is better for Holy and MP5 for Disc. As you heal, just take a look at any areas where you're falling short. Are you running out of mana? More Int/Spi/MP5. Do you feel like you're scrambling not to get behind the tank's health, even though you're constantly casting? More Spellpower. Then the next time you get an upgrade, choose accordingly.

Hey guys

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah see BRD was what made me have some issues as well. Before I respec'd to holy, I was healing instances as a shadow priest and managing fine with stacked spirit gear. But then I respec'd to holy and healed for brd and was having some serious mana issues.

I'll play around with my gear and let you know how it goes, thanks again guys

As a healing spec with a little more mana, why not give discipline a try. I've played both, but prefer discipline personally.

Going through the BRD stage right now, I can assure you that Disc is the way to go. Having scrapped all my Spirit/mp5 gear when I respecced to Disc, am near constantly at 80+% mana (really powerful shields and Rapture procs help) and if there's a more demanding pull, I have quite a few CD's up my sleeve to save the day. The only times I do go oom are while soloing which I rarely do anyway. I think I've had to drink two or three times in instances between 47 and 53, doing only instances.

Also, having quested for the first time in about 35 levels yesterday, and for the first time as Disc on this priest, priests are much more OP than DK's. Seriously, I three or four shot everything, I've got two haste cooldowns which ensure I have 20% haste ~18% of the time, and since I cannot really chainpull while soloing, that is a lot. I don't run OOM much, either. So it's like my DK, just with that many more oh **** buttons. Looking forward to Penance.
