Random group fun (or not)Follow

I have been enjoying (gasp!) the new LFG tool and the added rewards associated with it (already gotten my idol slot upgraded from the shoddy green idol I had been using...forever). I have tried instances (on normal, haven't gotten up the courage yet to do random heroics) that I wouldn't have thought I was ready for like Forge of Souls and Trial of Champions and found I can do them quite adequately. Granted, the tanks and dps probably overgear those instances, but it gave me confidence I could do them nonetheless.

Enter this past weekend...

Saturday morning I log on and sign up for a normal random dungeon. I get Utgarde Pinnacle, and I'm the only level 80. The tank was 78 and the others were 79. Folks zone in and I buff and the tank (without asking anyone) goes running off into the room and aggros a pile of mobs. As he takes off running and I shuffle down the hall after him and the 2 dps that followed him, I notice a white tiger icon in my buff bar. Sure enough, the hunter had on aspect of the pack. The tank dies, the dps die (except the hunter) and I barely made it to zone or I would have died. We regroup and ask the hunter to take off aspect of the pack. No response...for like 5 minutes. Yes, he was afk without telling anyone for 5 minutes. We have another few minutes of discussion trying to convince him to take off aspect of the pack (baffles me still today) before he finally does.

We proceed to pick our way through the next few rooms and get to the first set of harder pulls. The tank can't hold aggro on more than two mobs and I go down. I was through, and left the group upon zoning back in.

I wait the remainder of my time penalty and then sign up again. This time it is normal ToC. The DK tank never uses death and decay (not until final boss fight anyway) and I died once. Multiple group polls are taken throughout the run to try and oust this person or that person to no avail. Somehow we made it through.

All of this is just to say that my initial string of luck with great pugs may have run its course hehe. It was fun while it lasted! *grin*
