When i do a dungeon or what ever,,, i always seem to have a problem with my pet or the other ppl do anyway... I keep him on defensive,,, and he only attacks what i attack,, then they fight with me and tell me to dismiss him or take him of aggro, he is never on aggro,, what is up with these ppl?
Did you turn off Growl?
I'd also reccomend turning off growl.
By "Aggro", they mean that your pet is gaining aggro, not that he's on aggressive.

I agree it is the pet taking aggro off the tank they are talking about , so turn growl off unless the tank does not mind as a decent tank should be able to keep the mobs attacking him/her at least in the lower level instances.
I find to keep the pet on passive at times so you can select any mob that the tank looses control of can work well but if you are lower level and BM you will lose a fair bit of your DPS . The errant mob usually takes a fast run at the healer which if it is a priest will soon be in trouble so i usually try and keep the priest/healer alive.
The main point i am trying to say is you need to be in full control of your pet and that only comes with practice as a pet attacking the wrong mob or a tank that looses control of the mobs because of your pet makes it hard work.
Hunters have always had a hard time with all the bad ones about so we have to be twice as good as any other class to even things up.

I'd argue that it's the exact opposite. Whenever I tank a low-level instance, it is a serious fight for threat. Especially if you are a druid. You just have no skills, and a growl will easily take your target away. Once you get to higher levels, though, a Hunter could have their pet attacking a target for 30 seconds, with growl on, and I would still get aggro from it within a few seconds of engaging. I can just pump out way more threat than it can. At low levels, though, this just isn't the case.

Ahh i see i had that back to front so thanks for putting it right for me although to tell the truth as i have not bothered to get my hunters to 80 as yet i was only going by what i had been told happens at 80 .As it is i usually find my pets rarely take aggro off tanks but that is probably as i turn growl off and turn cower on ?
