Dredging through the blue posts the other day, I found the following from Ghostcrawler.

We'll buff sustained damage in the same patch where we nerf Warbringer and the block conversion to Shield Slam. It probably won't end up being a 2000 dps increase for anyone, but it should help close the gap.

I'm glad Blizzard is taking Protection DPS seriously - it's been my biggest concern with my tanking warrior for a while, as I do feel like a bit of a liability compared with a higher DPS tank when chasing an enrage timer. I'm definitely hoping we get more than a token DPS increase, as many tanking classes are 500-1000 DPS ahead of us even on single target bosses (forget about trash packs).

I'm curious to hear other people's take on the matter though. How do you think Blizzard will buff us? Do you think they'll tune the buff correctly? Do you think they'll manage to do it without mangling PVP to the point where they nerf Prot again because of arenas?

Looking forward to seeing everyone's ideas.

Did I miss something? :-)

I can not find the PTR patch notes (after 3.3.0), maybe anyone here knows where to find the quoted upcoming changes?

In a thread titled What Shall the Prot Nerf Be, Bornakk (Blizzard blue poster) offers the following upcoming change to Warbringer:

Bornakk wrote:
In the next content patch the current plan is to change Warbringer a bit so that it no longer allows Charge and Intercept to break roots or snares but Intervene would remain unaffected.

So it's been announced for a while, though I don't think these changes have been in any PTR builds yet, and they're certainly not live in 3.3.

Just found the following new information. They claim it is a translation from an official Korean Wow-site, but there is no way for me to see if this is true or not. Anyway, here is the link:

Protection

•Concussion Blow : Damage is decreased by 50%, but threat generated by this ability remains still.
•Devastate: Damage is increased to 120% (Up from 100%)
•Shield Slam: Damage increment from block value decreased, and starts to decrease from lower block value. If your gear is almost High-end, players won’t really recognize the change. In addition, threat generated by Shield Slam is increased by 30%
•Warbringer: This talent no longer allows Charge and Intercept to break roots or snares. Intervene remains unaffected.
