Hit Rating for HuntersFollow

Hi Guys,

I have a question about hit rating. Currently I am massively over the hit cap. I currently have about 550 hit which I know is way more than is needed but almost all the gear I seem to come across through raids which are upgrades seem to have hit on it. What it means is that my armor penetration is probably a bit lower than what I would like.

I am wondering has anyone else had issues with being a long way over the hit cap? And if so, what did you do about it? Did you avoid gear with hit on it?

Here is my armory if anyone wants to check it out - http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Khaz%27goroth&cn=Beardblinder

Feel free to make any other comments good or bad about my toon too. I have a thickish skin :-)

Cheers.

For starters...

You can get your 232 gloves for 30 emblems of triumph to preserve you two piece tier bonus. Then you can get you 245 shoulders and lose a bit of hit.

I seem to get better results off the mirror of truth instead of the pyrite infuser. Thats just me. you most likely know about it but you can play around with www.femaledwarf.com and see what changing your trinkets will do to your dps or you can run recount on a dummy.

I know I was at a point where I was at 501 hit rating, I toned it down by watching what gear I rolled on. Not everything that is a iLevel improvement is a gear imrpovement. A 245 item might be equal to or worse than a 226 or 232 item if it waste itemization points in something such as hit rating or expertise or in your case armor pen.

I read this really great itemization thread for DK tanking that summed up itemization really well. They said every piece of gear has a certain amount of points or cash that it attains/buys stats with. So basically a gear might have 500 of these points and every 1 agility might cost 1.5 points, and maybe hit rating might cost .5 points per stat. A piece of gear that has extra hit on it, that hit becomes useless to you, and thus those itemization points become useless and the gear may end up being as useful as a piece of lower quality gear. Once again this is a real summed up version of their explanation. If I find the link I will come back and post it.

Finally, I don't think too much hit is bad because if I am not mistaken hit is a 1 to 1 transfer with your pet. Provided you are smart and you are not stacking expertise then you pet would need somewhere around 14% hit (8% to not miss + 6% to avoid being dodged) however you will get very little dps return from doing that.

I hope this helped :D

edit: Worst comes to worst, beg Aethien and he might step off his throne to help you out then flame you for not using the help-me thread :P

Long Item Level Guide

Couldn't find the thread that said all this in about 4 paragraphs, but I found this wowwiki pages that goes severely in depth about it. However, it will tell you what you need.
WARNING: There are enough words on that page to make you cry!

I have a concern similiar to this, my hit rating is to high as well without trying. My biggest worry is a fellow hunter on my realm suggests you can have to much hit? He seems to think you might actually miss if you are to overstacked in it. I don't think this sounds right. Is there anyone that can officialy confirm this?

Thank you

If that's what he really thinks, he's an idiot.

What he may be trying to tell you is that if you are over hit cap, it does nothing for you, and if you continue to stack hit (for instance if you go for +hit enchants) you're costing yourself DPS you'd gain from having other stats instead?
