Ret EndgameFollow

Hello, so I am currently at level 60 as a full Retadin and I was wondering if there is any future in staying as ret. I have heard that ret pallies aren't very popular in raids so I'm considering switching to tanking but I would like to ask you all before i spend the gold.

Here's my Armory if it helps:

Thanks in advance.

Ret pallies are shredding ICC right now. So far, 90% of the trash and 6 out of 7 bosses encounters feature undead. Played properly, ret paladins are producing very good damage in all content, and they're bordering on OP in ICC.

Ah okay thank you very much. I just recall hearing some time ago that Ret pallies start to lose spots in raids because there are better DPS choices later on. But I'll keep going ret for the time being then and maybe duel spec.

Thanks again.

I'm of the opinion (based on what i've observed) that each classes theoretical dps only collates to actual raid damage in the best of guilds where every member is playing flawlessly. And even on paper rets are only marginally behind warriors and DKs. Personally speaking, i haven't been outdpsed by anyone in about 3 patches since i pug a lot and raid only casually. Rets obliterate the meters if you play well. Just like any class.

I'm sure someone will correct me on this, but i believe rets have the best AoE dps in the game at the moment. Glyph of Consecrate, seal of cleave command and divine storm creates ferocious damage.

Yup. We crush ICC. I usually bounce between #1 and #3 on DPS in our 25's. Whoever told you that is silly. Ret has been good to slightly OP most of WoTLK.

The good news is your a pally. So you can Tank heal or DPS depending on your mood with dual spec or a quick respec. It's a very fun class and it's like having 3 toons in one. As you gear up you can begin collecting offset peices, be very flexible, and get a variety out of your play without leveling another toon to 80.

Yeah I just bought my 60% flying mount so it's going to take awhile but I'm saving for duel spec next. I've never been much of a healer, but I do like tanking so I think I'll take Prot and Ret. I'm glad that I'm wrong about Ret being a bad endgame choice, I really enjoy being such an efficient machine at destroying everything I come across. Thanks for the responses.

Nitpick, but it's 150% now ;)

Anyway, that's not the reason for replying, lol. Old info is old, and whoever told you that Rets were bad endgame was probably still in the BC mindset. Like the others have said, Rets can tear it up quite well, and particularly well with ICC being an unstance (undead instance - my word :P). Actually right now, the only poeple that outperform me are Arcane Mages and the occasional Rogue, though admittedly this is coming from a Heroic/occasional raid point of view.

Ret with 2pc t10 is pretty fun and almost as good as Unholy DKs which are probably the best AoE in game. Tbh prot pally dps is crazy good on ICC trash too, i'm usually around 8k dps for all the trash before Marrowgar in 25mans.
