Im in dire need of advice.
My gear has been improving and i've been doing some raiding here and there, but then i noticed something that made me confused.
I find myself more often than not being out dps'd by players with worse gear than me.
I recall back in BC, it was the opposite. I did very well on the dps charts even though my gear wasnt always the best.
In BC i played affliction, sm/ruin.
Now i've been trying out destro and like it alot and im comfortable with the rotations.
CoD/CoE(depending on situation and requests) > imolate > Conflag > Chaos Bolt > Incinerate > then tending to the cooldowns, trying to get as many Conf's off as possible/imolate, spamming Incinerate in between and all that.
My dps howers somewhere between 3.4 and 3.9k
It's not really an ego thing though, maybe im just a sucky Lock and i can live with that :P
but the fact that lesser geared players (and Locks with the same spec as me) is doing more damage tells me im doing something wrong and i can't figure out what ^^

I know that my sockets are a mess atm, but that is getting fixed. Had the problem when my gems were as they should too..

As a destruction lock, the meta gem in your head should be Chaotic Skyflare Diamond. Note that it requires two blue gems in your gear to be active. This meta is nice not so much for the crit rating, but the increased critical damage.
You have hit and spell penetration gems. Spell penetration is for PvP, so replace that. You have way more hit than you need; you max out against level 80 raid bosses (assumed to be at level 83) at 17%, and any +hit after that is a wasted stat. Therefore, you definitely do not need to currently gem for hit anywhere. You are also missing gems in a lot of sockets. Generally use the following gems:
For red sockets: Runed Cardinal Ruby
For yellow sockets: Reckless Ametrine
For blue sockets: Purified Dreadstone
This is only if you need the socket bonus, otherwise just gem for pure spellpower. Use two purifieds to activate your meta gem.
Put an Eternal Belt Buckle on your belt and throw another spellpower gem in the socket. Enchant your staff. Change the enchant on your legs - the spirit will benefit you more than the stamina.
Your trinkets aren't great. As I understand it, the Egg of Mortal Essence no longer procs off Fel Armor heals, so it isn't that beneficial for a lock. Also, as stated previously, you have so much hit rating that you could replace your other trinket too if you wanted. You can easily farm regular ToC 5-man for Abyssal Rune, which is a nice non-raid one. Also, check out Nevermelting Ice Crystal from heroic PoS.
Your spec and glyphs look fine. Your rotation sounds fine. One last thing I would check is to visit a warlock trainer and ensure you have the highest trained ranks for each destruction spell. Since you switched from affliction, this has happened before when people are using lower ranks of spells since they never used them (and therefore trained them) while in their previous spec.
