I just dinged 80 the other day and have been running a few heroics a day to try and get rid of my blues (literally). I was rocking Malygos Favor on my boomkin for a couple of days but then a purple one handed mace came to me in a greed roll. The mace, coupled with an off hand item, seems like a huge upgrade from my staff... But I never see Druids using mace/off hand. Why?

Depends on the weapons you're using and what off hand.
Sometimes its staves over MH/OH and sometimes its MH/OH.
Like I said, depends on stats.

Cool. After being hardwired in ffxi that each class had a specific weapon, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something here

I wore the Anub'arak25 mace coupled with Symbol of Transgression for quite a while, until I logged into WoW last week for the first time in 3/4 weeks, got into an ICC10 group, killed Festergut and got the Harry Potter/Ghoul staff! So yeah, pretty much what the GodOfBoomkins says: it all depends on stats.
The best 5-man one-hand was a dagger in H-ToC and now it's a dagger in H-PoS.

It's all about the stats - if 1H + OH gives better stats then a 2H then go for it! Right now both my clothies are using dagger + OH as (they're alts) neither has found a decent staff yet.

Yup. I believe it's the best 1h spell casting thingy you can currently get without raiding.
