can a warlock ever train to use two handed weapons like a sword or mace or am I relegated to only using one handed weapons?

Warlocks are only able to wield Staves, One-Handed Swords, and Daggers.

Why would you want to train two-handed weapons (other than staves) as a warlock? Going to melee with them and lose any potential spellpower stats?

It would be kinda fun to impale things with a massive claymore while your imp laughs manically, to be fair.

It would be fun to see a Loc going at some mob with a two-handed sword that has more metal in it than everything else he has on, lol. Not to mention the sword would be bigger than most of the Loc's out there.

I'm new to the game....why would Mace Specialization be a racial passive (which I don't completely understand) if we can't use Maces?

Because it's a racial passive ability which means it's granted based on your race, not your class. If you then chose a class that can't use maces, the racial ability is of no use to you.
