i'm gonna try and make use of that newfangled LFD and hit every frakking dungeon on the way up. i enjoy the hell out of tanking so i'm gonna go that route til i catch up to my bro's 45 warr. i'm starting from scratch, there won't be a pile of leveling gear sitting in the kharanos mailbox when he first gets there this time, heh heh heh. (actually i did manage to pick up a level 9 mace... of shadow damage...) soooooo....

ret vs prot

i'm thinking of going straight down ret to start: level 36. i love parry with a slow 2H... does it still speed up the swing? saving 10% mana... on the instant casts? am i going to be getting some expensive instacast spells soon?

level 38 prot. ehhh reckoning sounds pretty damn cool.

this'll be on a medium pop pvp server so world pvp has to bear a little consideration. not sure how many hordies i'll run into though. yesterday i got four toons up to 5, 6, 6, and 10 and only saw 2 other people in the starting areas O.O and nary a soul dueling outside if. wtf!!??!?!

I would reccomend going down the ret tree for Seal of Command, then use a slow 1hander and shield. If you dont have Seal of Command your only multi target attack is Consecration, and you wont be getting any mana regen tools til alot further down the tree.

I leveled 1-80 Prot. Did it take longer?...Probably. Was it difficult?...Never. If you like to tank, then spec prot and do what you said..stay in the LFD channel and level. Ultimately you will be a much better tank. I have seen too many pally's, and especially DK's, that leveled dps and at 70-80 decided that they wanted to "tank" and failed miserably.

Well I recently started fresh with a paly on a new server and for lvling purposes I decided to go Ret. But once i leanred about the glorious new dungeon finder i hav ebeen running dungeons none stop as a tank. I found that lvling through dungeons is by far the easiest way to lvl, and since tanks and healers are the most sought after in dungeons you will find a group nearly instantly.

So to sum this up, I am a ret paly with terribly gear fairly good skill that has yet to fail at tanking an instance.
