I've tried Healbot (still run it, just not my primary frames) and Vuhdo. While I *like* Vuhdo, it doesn't fit into my current UI scheme. Said UI is pretty minimal. Friends that see it look at, see Grid has replaced my party/raid frames and freak out. Smiley: lol My grid frames are usually up front and just under my toon's feet. They only get moved when I'm in a 25/40 man (they get moved a little to the right) because they start blocking my SCT message frame and blocking the view. After going through MC/BWL with raid frames blocking my view of all but 10% of my screen, I'm not willingly going back to something like that. Since my guild mainly does 5/10 man stuff, it's not been that big a problem.

Note to self ... screenshots when I get home.

Edit:

I like placing Grid below my toon. That way my field of vision correlates to the way I normally talk to women. In WoW, I am looking at the fight and watching what is going on, but my real focus is just an eye-shift down.

Hehe. While I tend to talk this way, I try not to admit to it in public. Get slapped too often for it. Smiley: nod

Why would you not do that, like.. ever?
On my hunter (and other dps toons) Grid in a 25 man raid is about the size of omen.
I can see names and I can see who is dying/dead.
That's all I need to know, I can't do **** about it anyway on my hunter so why would I have healthbars all over my screen?

My husband, who's never played anything but DPS, doesn't even have raid/party frames showing. Ever. I keep trying to explain to him that he might express a little less shock at not being healed if he could tell I was dead, but it doesn't seem to be sinking in.

How is this not symmetrical?

It's not asymmetricality (is that a word?) that's bugging me there, but the earlier named 'having to switch vision'. On whatever class I play, I want the core elements of my class to blend in with my surrounding. DPSing/tanking/healing is just as important as watching the lasers, imo. Chat, cooldowns, buffs and the likes are all stuff I purposefully shove into the corner because all of it is 'unimportant stuff' that comes in the second place. The only two ways to achieve this effect with Grid is by either placing Grid over your character (Right...) or by putting the entire box to the left/right side of the middle of it - which causes the asymmetricality that annoys my socks off.

In the end it's all preference - I just don't like working with Grid right now.

To be fair, most of the ones that react the strongest, still use Blizzard's stock UI.

After I explain that I can still see everything they do (and more), and walk 'em through it, they get a glazed look in their eye and wander off mumbling, "Glad it works for you."

The stock UI really is awful.
It would be so much better if they made an option where you can put the unitframes in the center bottom instead of all the way to the left top though.
