What professions are good for locks? I chose engineering for my first(gnome)

all professions are good now.. in the end it depends on what you want them for.. for pve, blacksmithing and jewelcrafting is considered the best combination... but well.. blizzard has balanced out every profession so they all provide the same sp/crit/etc... additional benefit.. so beyond that what you need to look at is either profit/money saving ability or pvp usefulness.. pvp i forget which are the best.. tailoring has some nice clothing enchants for pvp, as does engineering.. in terms of money making.. enchanting and jewelcrafting are always good money makers, the latter especially when mixed with mining.. im alchemy/herbalism and i love the combination.. pretty good money makers, very good at saving money and they have added some very nice pvp abilities/potions for them ^^

The profession you choose depends on how many characters you already have in game level 80 ,what profession they already got and how one profession relates with the other, whether you like to farm for materials or not, whether you like to stay in major cities for making money , whether you like to raid a lot or not , whether you like to pvp or not . You should consider those factors because all professions maybe balanced but player needs are not!!
