I have taken almost a year break away from this game. I came back and noticed how lacking my rogue is. I come to you guys for help. I am doing 5 mans and the only person behind me on the dps charts is the healer. =/ My rotation is normaly sneak, cheap shot, sinister until i have five combat points loaded or before mob dies, then i do slice and dice. Then on next mob i load up on combat points and then use eviscerate. Thats all im pretty much going. Please take a look at my armory and tell me what I need to do to not suck. I thank you guys in advance for your help in this.

Also I hope my link works.

A) Respec. Try this for your level.

B) Don't open with Cheap Shot. Not only is it horrible for DPS, but your tank will despise you. For trash pulls, open with Garrote if you're in stealth, build to 2-3 CPs, use Slice and Dice, then keep using Sinister Strike and use Eviscerate as your finisher. Renew S&D if it pulls in that pull. If an enemy is close to dead, use S&D instead of Eviscerate so you might have it up at the start of the next pull.

C) Make up your mind on your weapons. If you intend to be Combat, use two swords. Using two different weapons means you aren't specializing in one of them.

D) Instant Poison mainhand, Deadly offhand. If you forget your poisons your damage is going to suffer badly.

E) For bosses, alternate Rupture and Slice and Dice as finishers. Use Eviscerate only during Adrenaline Rush.

Aside from that, you have a few pieces of gear that desperately need replacing. This advice isn't all spot-on - I'm certain at least some of it is outdated a bit - but if you're doing all this you should have reasonably decent DPS. That also happens to be a level range where, in my experience, a lot of classes are really coming into their own with Outlands gear, and a Combat Swords build just can't compete too well. If you're really desperate, Mutilate is supposed to be a fantastic DPS build lately.

I feel silly, I didn't bother looking at the armory since I assumed said person was 80.

Yea, there are some pieces you need to upgrade badly(belt/bracers for example).

Above advice is sound, though rupture isn't used at 80 anymore, I'm not sure about lower levels though.

EDIT: Do you not have glyphs or is armory being buggy?

Mutilate build for your level.

Mutilate rotation: Garrote->Hunger for Blood->Muti->SnD->(Muti to 4/5 combo points->Envenom->Muti to 4/5 combo points->Envenom.)

Repeat part in parentheses ad naseum. Hit HfB whenever is below 10 seconds. If no bleeds are being put up toss a rupture in when you need HfB to be refreshed.

When I say 4/5 combo points, I mean that because of the Muti talent Seal Fate, if you crit Muti will generate 3 combo points. Thus if you end up with 1 combo point from Ruthlessness and crit with Muti you will have 4. Hitting Muti again would waste a combo point, and as such you should Envenom with 4 in that case. Sounds a little tricky but you get used to it real quick.

EDIT: Forgot to say, for Mutilate just take whatever daggers have the highest DPS. Speed doesn't matter much, though slower one should go in your main hand. IP on Slower weapon DP on faster. DP on Main Hand if same speed.

You shouldn't be refreshing HFB at 10 seconds left, it's a minor waste of energy. Try to get used to refreshing it 2-3 seconds before it's done, or when you know you're going to be energy capped and/or off an attackable target for a period of time.

We're talking fights with phases of you sitting around scratching your ***, such as Northrend Beasts (first boss in TotC). Between phases you'll be energy capped, so you might as well refresh HFB as you kill each animal.

With talent procs, it's possible to envenom while the envenom buff is still active on you. Don't.

That's great for level 80 and optimizing your dps for every last point. But for leveling its better to just learn the basics, how to switch between mobs effectively, best rotation for bosses, when to do what.
