So I'm a noob DK, level 64. I'm specced unholy right now. I have 2/2 points in Desacration. I talented it because i figured it would help while leveling so mobs don't run away from me. Anyways, I was leveling this weekend and did some dungeons and realized it really didnt make a difference. Question being is it a waste of points for PVE? I'm starting to think it would be a good PVP talent. Thoughts? Also, I've looked at some other unholy builds and they show talents in Anti Magic Zone. To me it seems like a dumb talent. Am i missing something here. Thanks in advance.
Well, it is very useful in PvP.
In PvE solo, I wouldn't expect it to be useful.
In PvE, with DpS, I wouldn't expect it to be useful (it'll **** off your tank).
In PvE as a tank, it could potentially be useful, depending on your style.
So, don't take it while leveling unless you plan to PvP.
AMZ is VERY powerful. Maybe less so when leveling, but at 80 (and 5-man buffed) it absorbs 18K magic damage for me AS A TANK. For DpS, it can easily absorb 4K more. 75% damage reduction on an AoE for every DpS inside it is awesome. And when you get good at placing it, Hunters can even get inside it.
That can make some fights SERIOUSLY trivial. And it is awesome against casters (and any class with high magic damage) in PvP.
Should you take it while leveling? No. Should you take it as a DpS? Probably not. But definitely grab it for PvP or as a tank.

Thanks bro! your logic makes complete sense. As far as AMZ, i'll leave that empty for now. I guess I'll go back and get rid of Desacration and use the 2 points somewhere more beneficial. Thanks again.

I'd get rid of Vendetta and Desecration and put them in Impurity. A single Death Strike will heal you 15%. Better just to lose some damage than waste 3 points for a 6% heal every fight.
And get rid of Dark Conviction. You want SS and EBP ASAP.
And I'd even drop points to get RoR. 10% damage is superior to all of your Blood tree talents.
Then just use the rest of your points in Blood.
