How much hit do you use?Follow

First off, I know the numbers already, so this isn't one of those "Whats the hit cap" questions. I was wondering how much hit do you shoot for? I stopped playing a little after ToC came out (darn classes...) and now that I'm on break, I'm trying to enjoy what play time I can. I was talking to a friend of mine, and he said that I should change some things around. First was that I need to change my spec to 3/13/55 instead of 0/13/58 for the hit talent. Next, I need to drop a lot of hit. I'm capped at 447. He said by doing this my dps will increase. My only reasons for having so much hit is because 1] 3 talent points to play around with is nice and I give the raid replenishment and 2] I sometimes pug and worst case scenario theres no spriest/druid debuff and no draenei. So I figure if I gimp my hit and theres none of these people, I'm screwed. Is this one of those cases where I just have to have an extra set of gear around just in case?

So, bottomline, how much hit should I be shooting for? How much do you shoot for?

enough to be hit capped. preferably without taking the 3% hit talents as there are better talent specs that don't utilise them, which, including the 1% hit from draenai and 3% from Spriest/boomkin, is 342/343 hit rating

So shooting for the no talent, no buff, and no debuff hit cap is a bad thing? Only thing keeping from ditching a lot of my hit is that I have to rely on others in the raid to be there. And sometimes pugs won't have these people.

Maybe I should just keep a buncha gear with hit/no hit on it should I need more or less hit depending on the group composition...

Exactly, just like you switch curses if there is a boomkin/unholy DK in the group, you should keep some gear around to switch as well. It's not a buncha gear however, the 3% that boomkins/s-priests bring to the raid is around 80 hit, and I was never in an alliance raid with-out a draenai. That's 1 piece of heavy hit gear or 2 pieces max. If your sitting at 447 hit and you have a draenai and boomkin in your group that's 105 hit on your gear that is absolutely worthless, switch 2 pieces of gear to get more haste/crit/spirit.

I keep a dagger and gloves in my bags that I switch to in case there is no boomkin or shadow priest.
