I am in love with Death KnightsFollow

My DK dinged 80 last Friday (10 days ago), since then ive been grinding Heroics to get my self properly geared. Tonight I entered my first raid on him, and my frist raid ever as DPS. It was a VoA 10 run that I only got into thanks to my Underachiever addon, had to fake both Epic and the dungeon achievement. There was alot of whining among the group about there being too many Death Knights but I got to come anyway. We downed all the bosses easily, with me being the second DPS all the way through. My numbers were good, but were nothing special.

Then I joined a 25 man pug. Again more whining about Death Knights, it shut them up when the top 3 DPS was all Death Knights. I managed to pull of 5.8k against Koralon, in gear all gained from Heroics and Emblems. My Obliterate was doublecritting for 12k+ when I had the bonus from Merciless Combat. No gear dropped, but I got to show the pricks on my realm that Death Knights are actually good in the right hands.

Also, I love the fact that as Frost I was doing imba dps, while giving a huge buff to all the other melee players thanks to Icy Talons.

Long story short, I love Death Knights, I am Imba and all the Anti-DK propaganda is ********* Ive lost count of the number of raids ive been turned down for just because im a DK.

yea, DK is pretty sweet.

I love my Hunter, but my DK is now my new main.
Wish I could have more than 1 per realm, cuz I'd probably level another one (well I have 2 DKs. Human @ 70 and my Orc @ 80, but I like my realm..so I don't play the human one anymore).

You technically can, you just can't START 2 DK's on the same server so if you really wanted to you could start one up on another server and pay to bring him over and both of them would be retained. Friend of mine did it with his.

Sadly, DK's are the new '-tard' class. It's easy to level, starts at 55 and has a sizable leveling over most all other classes (You don't need change gear until NR).

There a good number of DPS DK's who are complete and utter idiots. It's not a completely unjustified stereotype, as these people do exist, however it does make it unnecessarily difficult for non-idiot DK's (such as yourself) to get a group.

I made my DK a tank, so I avoid most of the negative image of DK's, but I would really hate to do things as a DK DPS. I've met too many DK's who were just outright BAD. (like pulling 1k DPS despte having ToC10 gear.. >.<. The 0/71/0 spec didn't help).

I've still met way more bad Hunters than DKs, unfortunately.

Dunno why. Maybe my server/battlegroup just has fewer?

I've only partied with two or three DKs I'd call bad. I've partied with quite a few bad Hunters.

Part of this is that being a good hunter gets very complex. But I'm just talking about those that are severely below average.

Had a Hunter in T9 not dismiss his pet before jumping down a ledge the other day. He didn't say anything, and we naturally didn't know since the mobs he were aggroing were quite far away. His pet came running when he hit the attack key on our trash group. Yeah, we wiped...

But, on topic, I love my DK. Not so much a fan of PvP or DpS on him though. But I really like tanking.

Leveling up a Mage alt now, though.

Why do people still bring this up?
Unless they changed it, you still have to level a class up to 55 to unlock it on your account.

They/we don't have it easier. I mean we do for them 1st few levels, but at 58 you are kicked back out into the world like the rest of the players.

And lately I've ran into some bad Hunters too. Not sure why they want to run Heroics as a BM.
To be "top" DPS as BM you have to have some good gear and push them numbers.
They fail at this...
however a MM/SV Hunter who knows a rotation, they be the ones that know what is up >.>

I don't mean their DpS was bad (it was, but I can live with that). I mean they were just bad all around. Couldn't control their bet, didn't use threat tools when attacking mobs I hadn't grabbed yet, probably hadn't even trained their traps, didn't use mark, wouldn't get in close on fights that require it, don't stop attacking during reflect phases, etc.

Just... bad...

Damn, is there anything worse than Hunters addicted to gambling? Smiley: tongue

But yeah, Hunters got their "Huntard" nick for a reason.

If by "like the rest of the players" you mean "wearing much better gear than anyone who leveled up through Azeroth" then yes. PvP in the 50-59 bracket is just horrible.

I mention the fact that they start at 55 because this might not be their first and only toon.

Back when I first started, using your head AT ALL made you the best rogue many people grouped with. I'm not talking about doing anything fancy. I'm talking about "Sap that mob?" "Ok." And actually putting down the sap without ******** up seriously impressed people because so many rogue wouldn't/couldn't do that...

These people have probably migrated from Rogue to DK due to the perception of ease to do 'big DPS.'

I'd maybe agree with you if the #1 DpS in raids right now wasn't Mut Rogues, by a large margin. XD

I say always give someone a chance and if they suck, boot em and get someone else....if by the time someone is raiding or even running Heroics and they don't know what's up, you shouldn't coddle them, help them or hold their hand...they have obviously not cared enough up to that point to try and be good, so don't help them to keep sucking by handing them/ allowing them to upgrade their gear with drops that should be going to someone who it's really going to upgrade.

If their DPS sucks because of their gear, most people who care about being good will own up to the fact that they need to gear up.

This point is only further supported by this new amazingly awesome LFG/ LFR system that lets you vote to kick and then replace on the fly if someone sucks, I've only had to do it a few times, once with a tank, once with someone who DC'd and didn't come back for a few minutes and a stupid rogue that thought he didn't need a tank or healer to take down anything and ended up wiping the party 3-4 times.

I've always cared about being as good as I can be at what I am doing at the time, refusing to tank until I had a full respectable set with gems, enchants, def capped and a tank worthy health pool. My DPS has always been respectable given the gear I'm running in never being below 2k since I started really gearing for it and now with 2 T8 and 2 T9 with only a couple ilevel 200 pieces doing 3.5-4k on a regular basis with just party buffs and up to 5k+ with CD's popped and Heroism/ Bloodlust, Hysteria and lucky trinket and sigil procs.....

Anyway, the point is, you can be good if you want to be, anyone can and at this point in the game after playing for 2.5 years and dealing with idiots and being one for a while...don't deal with them anymore, but you have to give them a chance to PROVE they are one before kicking them to the curb, but only after you tell them where to go to find out how to get better otherwise it's just going to keep them coming. Kind of like telling someone with a communicable disease to go away without telling them how not to spread it around or recover from it.
