Simple and easy-- this one or this one.

I CAN get both and I probably will, but I'm wondering which I should equip most of the time. I DON'T play on a PvP server. How often did you find yourself snared/CCed while leveling? And would you say Blink makes the PvP one worthless? My Mage is gonna go Tailoring/Enchanting, so I don't think there are any useful trinkets from those.

Basically, it is Resil+CC-break or Haste+2% Max health per kill. Neither seems awesome, but better than nothing.

I'd go with the Haste and health one. Unless you're on a pvp server, you rarely have to deal with CC while you're leveling, and even when you do it hardly ever results in something where you could possibly die. In that situation, you can always blink out of it unless you're polymorphed and that's pretty much non existent while you're leveling. The only place I remember getting poly'd while leveling was against some of the trolls in Ghostlands.

I wouldn't say that blink makes the pvp one worthless though. Less useful for sure, but I'm sure it could still be somewhat useful since you can't break polymorph or fear with blink. It's just that those things happen so rarely while leveling it's very situational. Kind of like Deep Freeze while leveling, lol. If you do plan on getting both I'd go with the Haste one first.

That's exactly what I wanted to know, thanks.

Okay, another question. I was under the impression that they were unique, but they aren't. Should I go for two of the Discerning Eyes of the Beast? Or will the 2% health be more useful after battle than the 2% (4% total) mana?

The mana one gives SP, the other haste.

I would get the spellpower one, haste doesn't scale as well at lower levels, and if you are playing your cards right you shouldn't be getting hit much in the first place.

Definitely the Spellpower one, the mana returned will also help you go for longer before needing to stop and drink.

The benefit from the haste trinket is negligible at most levels. I think at best it is roughly 2.4% haste at very low levels and the higher you get the closer it gets to 1%. Level 1 it is 2.6%, levels 8-10 is where you see the most benefit at 7.8% and from there on the %age gradually decreases (with the odd minor increase) to 1.95% at 80.

I'm currently using one of each of the PvE ones on my mage.

To be honest, the health return is kind of meh.

Since I got access to Ice Barrier (level 40?), I usually take no damage at all. That largely negates the benefit of the health returns. At low levels, the haste is pretty decent, but it doesn't take long before the haste rating stops scaling so nicely to %. Right now it's the only piece of haste gear I have equipped and it's more than a little trivial.

Also, the 2% mana return is and has always been rather trivial. In my case, it's 2/3 of a Frostbolt. I expect that as I push into Outland (and especially Northrend) and my mana pool starts to grow more substantially, the 2% return/fight will scale better. As it stands, it's really not that significant. 4% would probably be more noticeable and I may pick up a second trinket to mess around with.
