Spell Reflection has been my favorite Warrior ability ever since I got it. Reflecting everything from a Mage's Arcane Barrage to a Death Knight's Death Grip to a mob's spell cast.
Then I enter Utgarde Keep with the first boss being a spell caster. I'm thinking sweet, I'll interrupt those I can and spell reflect the last. Well, NO! Apparently bosses, or at least this special little snowflake, can toss spells right through your reflection. Yeah. Useful. Not.
Also, tanking level 70 instances is like tanking heroics in scrub gear all over again. Three hits and I'm dead and the healer goes OOM after 12 seconds. Nice.
I used to love Protection, but it really stinks right now. I'm hoping this boss was a glitch, that you're supposed to be able to reflect spells and stuff, because otherwise the ability is pretty useless.
On another note, Arms is really amazing and while it doesn't have the same health efficiency as Protection or even Fury, it does provide great lulz when you do 2.1k DPS in Nexus with Sweeping Strikes and Bladestorm. Hehe.

Please "talk up" if your comprehension white-shifts. I will use simple-happy language-words to help you understand.
Nothing wrong with the talent itself. Just major inconsistency among the mobs. Sometimes you get to reflect, sometimes you don't. Same for interrupts, silences, and dispels.
Spell reflect is a little sub par on some things. However I am also leveling a warrior through Northrend. I am loving it!
Leveling as prot totally takes away the challenges of finding a group. Finding a solid, good, knowlegeable group is still a toss up..... I got my lil warrior that tempered cobalt set. Then threw some cheap chants on it with my chanter and my warrior was at about 13k at level 70 and had zero problems with much at all. Getting close to 74 now and sitting at almost 16k with plenty of def, and other avoidance stats for his level. Haven't had any problems with my tanking in instances yet... Ran across some craptarded healers and dps'ers though, that isnt much fun.

You should try tanking as arms. Seriously. Toss on a shield and a slow one-hander and spam revenge every GCD.
^^^^ It had me puzzled for ages why Revenge was attached to the Unrelenting Assault talent. Then i realized that arms can weapon swap to one hander and shield and activate shield block to get Revenge hits every second, as long as something is hitting you. The damage is incredible.
Spell Reflection is nice while leveling Prot and absolutely amazing in PvP, but for end-game PvE I guess it's more or less useless?

Some boss abilities can be reflected, some can't it's almost totally random. Like that guy in utgarde keep can't be reflected, but in the malygos boss fight i remember improved spell reflect bouncing around those arcane barrage casts in phase 2.

It's true that for awhile spell reflect did seem kindof useless and fall to the wayside.
I kinda found a resurgance for it in Icecrown through, alot of the mobs and bosses cast spells, and the fact that we can reflect it right back at them is huge for us, gives us the extra agro that a pally might miss.
Also that one boss...the giant head, reflection of souls or something. On heroic has his phantom blast that can hit for 15k+...shove that back in his face and it hurts, also on that note i think i killed someone with it when they had mirrored souls so be sure than to just interrupt it.
