Hello there,

I am a Boomkin that's been away from WOW between February and November and I'm trying to get back into full swing again. I've found a new guild where I raid Ony10 and Toc10 at the moment.
Though I'm doing better than I feared (up to 4k single target) I will need to work on upgrading my gear, I am a bit in a quandry though as there's so much to do. I'm over hitcap, over haste softcap and low on crit, but that can be fixed by regemming and gear replacements. Before I sort my neck, wrist, rings and trinkets out I want to have clear on what Tier gear I'll need to earn emblems for and get those first. Apparently a mix of 2x T8 and 2x T9 is considered optimal now, but from the looks of it this could change in 3.3 and I'd rather anticipate this. I like the fact that going for both T8 and T9 would utilize both types of emblems, but if full T9 would be so much better soon I'd rather spend the emblems on the other upgrades instead of the two T8 pieces.
This is me atm: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ghostlands&n=Resheph

Anyone kind enough to advise me?

Greetings fellow lazer chicken. I'll direct you to this post.

Alight, first thing I see is you can stop going gemming for your socket bonuses. For the most part unless you absolutely must gem for hit or hit/sp don't worry about the set bonuses.

You NEED the triumph badge idol. It has a ridiculous uptime and gives you another 4% crit, which is key to our dps.

Enchant wise you might want to spring for the highest level enchants you can get. The plus side is you do have everything enchanted correctly just need the best you can get.

Honestly right now it just looks like all you need to upgrade your dps is new gear. Once you start filling up your gear with BiS you're gonna notice your crit rise. Biggest reason I say this is because t7 equivalent gear is rather low on crit and t8 will be loaded with so much hit you wont know what to do you with it all. T9 is actually itemized correctly so keep picking up that 232 gear.

As for the 2t8/2t9 yes, that is what you should go for. If you don't have access to 25 man togc raids your gear can't push you past the threshold where 4t9 becomes better. So for you, 2t8/2t9 is your best bet.

One more thing, I didnt look at your spec.

Try dropping points out of dreamstate and into intensity. Intensity is the best mana regen spell you have available.

Also, drop the innervate glyph and pick up the moonfire glyph. If you must use the innervate glyph drop the IS glyph and use MF.

Cheers, I'll go and move those points.

I think I'll go for the MF glyph instead of the IS and keep the innervate one, IS is such a small component of total damage and I really like the utility of the glyph in a raid.

IS and MF should have 90% uptime in a fight, mind you thats the number you should shoot for, but most times it will be less than that. Between the two they will account for 15%-20% of your total damage. So counting those out, might not be the best idea.

I wasn't discounting MF though, I'll definately get that Glyph in :-)

Choosing between 30% extra of 5% of total damage in the case of IS compared to keeping both a priest and myself supplied with mana during a big fight in the case of Innervate I feel the utility of the latter is higher.

I hear what you're saying but having been through every encounter since the start of Ulduar, I can confidently say mana isn't that much of a problem often enough to warrant a glyph slot, really. When we've wiped on something hard, it's not because the healers are oom. You shouldn't ever need to Innervate anyone but yourself, and you don't get the glyph benefit when you do, so it's pretty redundant.

Edit: I just pulled up a WOL from one of our recent 25s, and with the glyph one of our boomkins did 400k damage with Insect Swarm alone, and that was only on Freya, Mimiron, and Iron Council. You're going to have the spell up anyway to buff your Wrath, might as well get your money's worth.

Yeah, mana shouldn't ever be an issue. There are tons and tons and tons of options for healers now to replenish mana. Hell I'm at the point now in my gear that every single time I crit starfire, I return more mana than I expended.

I say just try it with and without the glyph. Do some testing. As your gear progresses you realize that you will not need any mana regen talents beyond that of omen of clarity.

Thanks guys, very persuasive argument, I'll replace the Innervate with the MF :-)

I was basically asking myself the same question and came here in search for answers...... I am finally building myself a puter worthy of crushing wow to the fullest <finally get to play with SLI for personal use> and have entered a pretty serious raiding guild so I want to be able to perform my best.
The semi sticky post Arex linked was good and not too far off of what I am currently doing as far as rotation, itemization etc.
I have a boon lately where I am always under hit cap and I am wearing 7/10 cloth pieces, neither of which I am happy with nor had much decision over roll wise.
IC was released today so I am intent on getting my gear up to snuff so any specific suggestions on what I should aim for <excepting arexs aforementioned idol I will get> would be appreciated.
Anyways back to snooping and I will be back with some questions soon I am sure.
My moonkin char is Duedain on azuremyst for those inclined to snoop.
Wassail
