So, I've been picking up some tanking gear and stuff along the road and I noticed today that some of my stats are totally messed up, especially my hit rating.

I roll with two different sets, one with more avoidance and one with more health. Removing some avoidance proved to be excellent when doing heroics because otherwise I'll dodge too much and lose rage. Anyway, some stats (unfluffed and in bear form):

Raid gear

37,222 health
26,980 armor
38.75% dodge
40 expertise
350 hit rating (!)

Heroic gear

39,752 health
36.98% dodge

Rest of the stats are the same.

Notice something out of place here? Like, hit rating? 350? Really?

I haven't been actively searching for hit rating, it's just something that seems to be on every single tank item right now. Also, my health seems to be quite good for our current content (ToC10 Norm), so I've been working towards getting more dodge rating. I've been thinking about ditching the necklace for the DPS one. It would buff my armor, my crit rating and my dodge rating and the cost of some attack power and health (and defense).

With the DPS necklace (the agi/stam one), I get the following in my raid gear:

36,842 health
27,116 armor
38.85% dodge
308 hit rating

Expertise is the same and I get a slight increase in crit rating (0.82%) which is more rage, more TPS and more Savage Defense procs.

I'm really at a loss here. What should I be focusing on more? Getting my dodge up there or my health sorted?

I've successfully off-tanked ToC10 normal and Ony25 with the current raid gear. And I blow through heroics in my heroic gear.

Maz, I have 295 hit on my bear gear. I don't let it frazzle me.

I have 29 expertise and wouldn't mind more.

You have enough health for ToC.

Just breathe deep and relax.

You're doing fine.

Its called you wear rogue DPS gear to tank. ;p

So does that mean I should be aiming for all the agi/sta rings and such? They have so little stamina on them that I prefer to go for the str/sta stuff which is usually tanking trinkets.

Clutch and that EoT trinket will be up next. Once I get the badges, heh.

Edit: Just found some fun bits in another thread from a couple of weeks ago.

That was October 19th. It's now November 23rd and I'm sitting at 39.5% dodge and 37.5k health self-buffed.

No use the plate tank jewelery.

Look for armor, stam, expertise and dodge. Defense isn't horrible but try and avoid parry.

Most of the jewelery I have is str/sta with defense and hit rating. I did get that ring from heroic Trial of the Champion which has parry rating on it, but it has a socket and with a +30 stamina gem it's better than most of the stuff I can find anywhere else.

Anyone know where to go to find a better cloak? The one I'm using now is the Nerubhide BOE cloak and I really need something new and shiny, but I refuse to buy the Emblem of Valor stuff.

Cloak of the Shadowed Sun

Drops off a bunch off guys in Naxx25. Not much going on for cloaks for bears in ToC10.

Ulduar has a few but mostly off hard modes or General or 25 mans.

Try and get that Naxx cloak or shell out the badges. :(

NR beasts 25 cloak, or the tanking cloak from jaraxxus.
The BoE dps cloak might be a little on the expensive side Smiley: tongue

You can PuG 25 man though.

Well, at least on my server you can.
There's runs being organized almost every moment of the day.

25-mans make baby FPS cry salty tears of inadequacy.

Also, my server fails even on 10-man pugs (Ony25 was doable, but still... it's Onyxia). I joined a ToC10 pug and it broke when we wiped on Gordok.

Ps. 377 hit rating in my kitty gear now, lawl.

Um, Aeth, Hunters can't heal...

Smiley: dubious

Edit: Oh chrissakes, Aeth! You came in here just to make pet jokes about me? I'm not a pet, I'm a RAWRBAER of immense fury, but with a delicate touch of finer bone structure.
