edit: don't go AotBeast for leveling, definitely not as SV.
Just go for AotH and kite stuff or kill it before it reaches you.
Your pet isn't going to hold aggro anyway.
And may i suggest a spider? Excellent root and mana return every 3 minutes.

I thought all pets got bigger as you levelled? So aren't all wolves the same size at 80?
My hutner is only 78. I never played him until recently with the new expansion. Quickly realized my ravager wasn't cutting it (may be useful in pvp, but not pve questing), and got my dog out of the stables. Never cared for wolves in BC because their low damage, but they kick *** now. I'm using Spot from Theramore. The coolest dog ever! Probably the only wolf I could stand to run with.
As for cats they are pretty, how can anyone not say a cat is pretty? But pretty things don't belong in rugged combat as far as I'm concerned. I want a rugged pet. Not something that has to lick itself every time it gets blood on its fur. :)

Barring effects that otherwise modify the size of your pet (TBW etc), all pets of the same family and level will be exactly the same size.
