Caster StatsFollow

I just hit 80 and am trying to gear up both my Resto and Elemental specs. I know they use similar but different stats, Resto caring more about MP/5, Int and Elemental needing Hit/Crit. So much of the gear I'm seeing though has Stam/Int/Spell Power/Haste. The lack of crit and hit seems to make it unappealing to Ele, is that the type of gear I should be wearing for my Resto spec? Who benefits from all this haste? I see a lot of good Cloth/Leather that have the stats I want, sans the armor, should I be rolling on these or is there mail out there?

If you can get mail always go for that. But, if you are in a group without someone that needs it, definitely grab leather/cloth pieces as a temporary fix. People don't generally care as much in lower end content, as long as you aren't the tank or a melee in a physical AoE-intensive fight (and two or three non-mail pieces shouldn't be the difference between life or death unless both you and the healer suck).

It's funny that you are having this problem, though, because about 80% of the gear I see drop is Shaman mail. It's actually getting ridiculous. I'd be so pimped out if I was one...

If you can put together a list of what you have on one spec, and link your armory for the other, we may be able to help you find upgrades.

Also know that, when you are just entering heroics, your stats don't matter so much. It's okay to have a lack of crit and hit for Ele early on. You can always gem for it, if need be. And, once you get more SP/Haste, you'll have an easier time getting the items you do want.

And haste is a VERY beneficial stats to casters. I wouldn't imagine Shaman are different. They could be, though.

The mail does exist, but it's fine to go without it until you find it.
