Beast Mastery talent + dual spec + pet = ??.Follow

I couldn't think of a better thread title so I hope what I put will suffice.

My hunter is BM specced right now, and has the Beast Mastery talent (51-point talent in BM) that gives my pet an additional 4 skill points to use in my pet's tree...

My question is if I get dual spec on my hunter and go either SV or MM... and use the pet that I had the 4 extra points on... when I goto the MM or SV spec will my pet also be dual specced so I can spec the pet's tree to whatever I want for the new hunter spec... or ... how does that work?

I am wondering what happens to pets when I switch specs and I lose those 4 extra skill points for pets.

Hopefully I explained it well enough...

Thanks.

You will have to create a spec for your pet for both of your specs. One with the extra points gained from BM and one with the normal skill cap.

Thanks, that was what I was hoping for but wasn't sure.

How do exotic pets work? Does it just de-summon when you change specs, and your "main" pet switch to something else?

All pets unsummon when you change specs. Exotic beasts will not be summonable if you are running MM or SV, you will have to swap them out at a stable master or use your stable ability.

There is no "main" pet, it is whatever pet you have active at the time.

If you do have a pet that is usable by all 3 trees, the new pet may be called after swapping specs and it will have talents according to what your active spec allows.
