You will notice that I have two specs, one shadow and the other disc/holy.

I'm currently leveling solo and never run instance or raids. My confusion comes from the fact that the disc/holy build is much more efficient (kills faster with no down time). I keep hearing how shadow is the leveling build, so what am I doing wrong?

It's not intentional, it's accidental.

And you should join the dark... euh.. light side and go Holy/disc smite spec for leveling!

this kind of happened to me when i leveled my priest. i found Shadow grinding long and mana in-effecient.
I respeced to try to heal some low level 5 mans, and when i quested/ground as holy i found myself with little to zero down time and found that most mobs died just as fast as anything else.
leveling in a holy/disc build is ligit.

I levelled every spec you can imagine at some point, shadow, holy, disc holy/disc hybrid and even a few other random things. I found for me Holy/Disc worked well and I levelled this spec right through northrend as well as a few other times on the way.

The only problem with holy/disc levelling? I can't play my shadow spec for s**t oops!

I am now dual specced PVP Disc and Shadow. I have always run as a Disc healer mainly and have just tweaked my spec to have a go at PVP since I am not raiding atm (although I reakon I could heal heroics/naxx/os with it no probs as it is not *that* far off my raiding spec) I went shadow for the lols, to be able to fulfil dps role in groups if needed and to pew pew dailies. However I am soooo bad I have only ever done dps in low level stuff where dps output does not matter or on my dailies. I cannot enter a raid as shadow or I will be laughed out, even though my gear is above Naxx ready (epic crafted and a few bits I picked up for my offspec on some Naxx/OS runs to get my hit to cap combined with my Disc gear which overlaps in stats)
