Earthen Power Talent Broken?Follow

#1 Nov 12 2009 at 4:33 PM Rating: Decent
With 2/2 points into Earthern Power "Earth Shock reduces enemy attack speed by an additional 10%". ES already reduces attack speed by 10% so with this talent it should be 20%. If you have the talent and mouse over Earth Shock, it does in fact say 20%, but when you cast it on an enemy and mouse over that icon it says 10%. I submitted a ticket to a GM to ask if the tooltip is wrong and the talent works, or if it's completely broken...but it'll likely be a day or two before I get a response from them. If I went and dueled someone would I be able to figure it out that way? I guess I'll go check it out. Well I've had fun talking to myself here =p

Not sure if it applies to this issue as well, but it might...

There was thing thing where talented buffs wouldn't show up in the UI, and instead only showed the default values. This may very well be the case for debuffs too. IIRC, its not so much a bug, but an issue the devs just havent't quite figured out how to improve yet without significantly increasing data traffic and possibly causing lag problems. Basically instead of checking back and forth what the actual values are, the game just shows those from the basic buff.

Kann pretty much nailed it. Probably just a display bug/error.

But as for testing the actual effect, it would be easy. Simply duel a friend, ask them their weapon speed. Say it's 3.00. Begin duel 1 and ES them without the talent, just 10%. It ought to go down to 2.70.

If you have the talent, it will go down to 2.40 if the talent works correctly. Or, alternatively, if the talent is broken and improves it by 10% of 10%, their speed will go down by 11% - so 2.67.

This is an issue that has its roots back in the very first game (Vanilla WoW).

Discussion on the Druid forum about the same issue.

Cestin, not sure if I follow what you are saying. Shouldn't the weapon speed go up? It should take more time in between swings, which, if I am not crazy, is what the weapon speed is defined as.

So in your example, you would have 3.00 speed, with untalented you would have 3.30, and with the talents, it would become 3.60.

Just checking.

Oh yes, that's right. Thank you. Enemy weapon speed goes up when you hit them with ES.

If you have the talent, it will go down up to 2.40 3.6 if the talent works correctly. Or, alternatively, if the talent is broken and improves it by 10% of 10%, their speed will go down up by 11% - so 2.67. 3.63.
