I leveled up Inscription a while back. I've been dutifully doing my Inscription research every day for many, many days. Many. Days. I still don't have Glyph of Penance.

So I respec my PVP spec back to Disc today. Can't make Glyph of Penance. Trot my shapely Blood Elf butt over to the AH where I find: no Glyph of Penance.

I have the mats, what with being a scribe and all, so I ask several times in Trade.

No Glyph of Penance.

If you're going to make a particular glyph really, truly, flat-out mandatory, it should not be learned via discovery.

Now I'm running around Disc specced with no Glyph of Penance and I look like an idiot. No, I mean more than usual. I still have nice hair and cool mounts, but wonder if that's enough to overcome a handicap of this magnitude. People might not take me seriously.

Just saying.

Edit: OR, maybe some people don't know their professions as well as they think they do. And maybe those people should learn what Wowhead means by "learned via discovery" before go they shooting their mouths off. Smiley: bah

At least I'm in to correct myself before anyone else has to do it. Smiley: lol

That said, the whine about mandatory glyphs and discovery still stands.

It really pissed me off when they added 2 seconds to the CD after adding the glyph of penance that.... reduced the CD by 2 seconds.

Rather than helping, all it did was take a glyph slot from disc priests >.<

For those of you who don't know, here's what happened:

Pre-3.1 Penance had a base CD of 10s (talents brought it down 20%)
3.1: Added Glyph of Penance (remove 2 seconds from Penance CD)- Can be learned randomly from BoE glyph book
Post 3.1: Talk of changing Penance glyph to +5% crit instead of CD reduction, didn't happen.
3.2: Penance CD changed to 12s, Glyph left unchanged (With Glyph CD is the same as it was Pre-3.1)
Post 3.2: Lots of pissed-off Disc Priests

There was talk about it and certain blue's didn't quite understand why so many Disc Priests were ...annoyed by the change.

I was pissed at this as well and it is the main reason the glyph has become mandatory as Teacake says. The prices for penance glyph are still ridiculous on my server as well as ALL Disc priests I have ever seen have it.

Yeah, I would have rather them take Penance out of Aspiration and leave the cd at 10 seconds. That way you could have at least given some talent points back for ******** with Penance like they did.

And it should be mandatory for any scribbler that can create a Glyph of Penance to keep at least a dozen in the AH, at a reasonable price. And PoH, too.

Come to my realm!, I always have about 500 glyph auctions running at any time. You won't find a glyph worth having that isn't listed.
Give me your monies!

Better you than the guy I paid 55 gold to last night, which may not sound like that much, but according to Auctioneer is 160% of market price on my server. Price gouger!

On the other hand, the books from which you can discover Penance as one of 57 possible glyphs cost 40-50 gold apiece, so I don't see myself pursuing it all that doggedly. After all, how many times will I respec to a spec that doesn't use this glyph? Stocking up half a dozen in the bank would probably last me until the end of the world (of Warcraft).

On the other hand, what would you need more talent points for? I've already got an excessive luxury problem as disc - it's possibly the only out of 30+ specs in this game where I don't feel like I need more points to make it awesome. Even if I'd gain 3 additional talent points while in the disc cookie cutter, the best I could grab would be either -15% mana cost on Mass Dispel or -10% mana cost on Penance. I'd need at least 6 points before I can even start putting points in a remotely interesting talent (Spiritual Guidance). I'd need 13 more points before I could grab a talent I'd actually notice having (Surge of Light). Disc really is great value-per-point wise, you simply get to pick all the talents you really want.

You could put those 2 points in PW:Barrier!

Oh yeah, that never happened.

Well as you now know inscription is just about a total non-money maker.

But I'm going back to see if I can make the penance glyph.

True, true. OTOH it's really not bad to level at all - all materials you can gather yourself versus having to buy anything for skillups.

500? I only have ~200.

Though, I'm not a scribe.

I assume that was a joke, I've made about 250k from it since christmas when I started really going at it properly. Best thing about the whole profession is that you can buy stacks of ink of the sea on my server for about 30g then use that to make 20 glyphs that sell for a minimum of 10g each. I haven't farmed all year.

This is good to know. I haven't ever put any real effort into it, just assumed it wasn't much of a moneymaker based on how little I made while leveling it up.

I use enchanting and to a lesser extent tailoring as my cash tauren. By the time I'm done with my auctioneer activities that's pretty much all the time I want to spend on moneymaking for the day.

I have the same exact issue with Glyph of Shadow and CoH >.< I mean really... Now it is just a matter of days till the DK and priest ones make their way into my book... Why do the books of glyph mastery have to have a limit???

And can I saw how annoying it is to still be able to do the research when there is nothing left to learn? Took me a week to figure out I had learned all the minor glyphs... I thought blizzard was messing with me.
