Best class for ABSOLUTE NOOB?Follow

#1 Oct 30 2009 at 2:25 PM Rating: Default
Thinking of returning after over a year... and bringing the wife with me.

She's never even really seen me play, and has never played a game more complicated than wrestling for PS2. Would a Huntard be the way to go for a total noob? I figure I could start a new character with her - probably a priest, because I won't be tanking... just can't waste my time.

Please advise.

I advice you to let her decide or she will leave you for that sexy level 80 human paladin called Steve.

I would advise you not use the term "huntard" when asking this sort of question.
Come to think of it, I would suggest the term "noob" be dropped from your vocabulary as well, particularly as pertains to your WIFE.

I would recommend that you give up on the idea, or at least encourage her to play alone--it doesn't sound as if you'll be patient enough to help her get started, and she might as well learn to be self-sufficient from the beginning. After all, you wouldn't want to waste time on the woman you love, and risk her actually having fun with the game.

There's an awful lot of hostility in here considering the OP never said anything like "lol women are total nubz wil she be good huntard??" You're all inferring a lot from just a few lines here.

Give her the info for all the classes, let her make her own choice and learn the game at her own pace. Also, if you plan for this marriage to last longer than your WoW subscription, learn patience and humility... almost nothing worse than doing something with somebody who obviously doesn't want to spend the time with you because they think your holding them back.

Happy Wife = Happy Life...... words to live by my friend.

No, I'll give him credit for better spelling than that. Smiley: rolleyes

I don't think Isyris is inferring a whole lot, just read the bolded parts.

As for the OP, I advise you to stop thinking of your wife as a moron and let her think and decide for herself, then help her learn.

My apologies... she's certainly not an idiot, but being a Hunter myself, I know how impatient my instance-mates were with my beginner status.

After a year of absence, there'll be plenty that I'm behind on, so I'm sure people will be impatient with the two of us, which is why we won't set foot in any BGs until she's REALLY good.

What I was really asking was: is it still a great class for speedy level-ups now as it was for me then?

Women have a lower average IQ than men, so it's only fair to infer that she is going to suck at playing video games, eh?

Someone who has never played any sort of complicated game would, indeed, be a complete noob. The inference that somehow the OP relates this to her being a woman is baffling. The "can't waste my time" comment is impatient, yes, but not sexist in the least, not to mention it has very little context to interpret it in. Some people just seem to have chips on their shoulders.

Glad you "got it". I just meant I didn't have the patience to tank for a new player. And considering my warrior is a Fury warrior, switching would be terrible.

I'm thinking Dual-Hunter or Hunter/Priest combo... probably the latter so we can run instances with others.

Actually I would go Druid, they are a true hybrid class (by this I mean you can do all 4: tank, melee, ranged or heal) and you can vary what you do which may help you from being too bored re-leveling.
