Sublety spec is viable, but will do less damage compared to other rogue specs in raid situations.

This means that most rogues will prefer not to go with it.

Nowadays sublety seems to be a gimmick spec that is awaiting the awakening of 2.3.3 all over again in my eyes.

If you do however still want to run a sublety spec, I can try helping you, but it does seem a little confusing and has a lot of wasted talent points not needed for raiding.

In a word...no. It's not viable. It's available, but if I were raid leading, I would ask any sub rogue change specs before letting them in.

Only a matter of time before they patch and all classes get 3 talent buttons. When you enter an instance, a message will say "you are entering an instance, would you like talent choice 1, 2,or 3?". You pick 1, and a message says "talent choice 1 is for pvp, you might try 2 or 3". You press 1 and a message says "press 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, in any order repeatedly, meanwhile occasionally moving your character out of fire....enjoy this instance!".

go nuts with your spec, goto heroic dummy and make sure you can do the minimum dps for a raid or instance, inform your leader that you are playing the game to have fun. If he/she would prefer you not have fun, then let one of the demi-gods in this forum tell you how to play :)

While you're correct that ultimately you play the game to have fun, consider that your raid leader plays the game to have fun too, except his idea of fun may be more along the lines of breaking speed records instead of just barely getting by the skin of your teeth so one of his rogues can play a less efficient talent spec that ultimately just presses buttons in a different order than the one that has been systematically proven to be most effective.

(This may be an extreme example, I don't know how far apart the specs actually are...just providing perspective)

Nore, you are correct imo.

To the OP - my post wasn't meant to be snobbish or anything, but you asked if anyone had a sub spec that did, to quote, 'good' dps. The answer is currently this: depends on your definition of good. I would define subs dps compared to the other easily accessible specs (read- mut or pve fist/dag etc) as marginal, sub-par at best. I would imagine that the other 24 players in the raid have specced correctly according to their role, and would expect you to do the same.

Viable is such a vague term, it's what losers use to justify bringing their crappy asses along.

On a sidenote, has anybody actually got any parses on HAT in raids? I haven't seen it around since Naxx - probably for a good reason, but the idea was still interesting. I realize HAT got nerfed, but is it still semi-alrightish DPS (like 4K were a combat rogue would get 5K) or is it impossible to ever rise above 2.5K with it nowadays?
