First heroic on this character. First Northrend instance on this character. First PUG on this character.

Heroic AN.

Got the wand.

That's right.

This is when you start farming for the Baron's mount. Or buy a lottery ticket.

Hey, you know what? There should be an in-game lottery. How awesome would that be?

I hate PUGs, not for the usual reasons, they just stress me out because I'm scared of doing something dumb (which in turn makes me nervous which then makes me do something dumb). I'm glad not to have to feel rushed to PUG 13 heroic dailies for the badge wand. I really need to get on that "find guild on new server" thing.

Nuh-uh. I swore off raiding months ago. I'm just a lazy drifter now. Lazy drifting FTW. Smiley: nod

Besides, I don't have time to PUG anything. It's almost November, people. We're all supposed to be writing novels.

You talking about the Rod of the Fallen Monarch?

I got that the one and only time I did heroic AN (with a pug), may have been my first heroic.

Grats!

As for no time to raid,

TotC10/25 take about as long as the average heroic.

Ony takes less. :D

I agree that Ony takes very little time. I've never done TOC. But it's not just that I don't have time to raid; they've done a great job removing that barrier. What they refuse to budge on is that if you think raiding is just not fun, that's just too damn bad, because they spent a lot of time working on this content, dammit, and you will go run it, even if what you need the gear that drops there for has nothing to do with raiding (see: weapons for PVPers, not an issue for me personally but infuriating nonetheless).

Dear Blizz: I don't like raiding. I don't find it fun. At all. This doesn't make me the devil. I still like your game. Don't be so freaking insecure, 'k?

Well, I mean.. if you don't like raiding it's more your problem than blizzard's.
There's a decent amount of stuff to do for people who don't raid/arena, but the majority of the playerbase do enjoy raiding/arena Smiley: tongue

And I usually do 2x ToC10 + 2x Ony10 in about 1.5 hours each wednesday.
The traveling to Ony takes longer than killing her.

I don't disagree with you that that stuff is a big part of the game. I don't disagree that people who don't like what this game offers should find another game.

But.

I do disagree with the idea that I need to raid to do non-raiding stuff. You should be able to gear up for PVP through PVP. You should be able to gear up for battlegrounds through battlegrounds. You should be able to gear up for fishing in the Dalaran fountain through... oh wait.

Right now I see too much of, "You need x weapon" or "Go run y for z trinket and then come back." Heck, it's hard for a lot of people to even run heroics without raiding gear anymore.

And yes, you can argue that you can gear up for PVP through PVP, but the gap between the iLevel 200 weapon available directly at 80 (Titansteel or Argent Tournament) and the iLevel 245 weapon you get for an 1800 arena rating is pretty darned big. Most people can't make that jump without a middle tier. And I get that you're Superman and you can get to 1800 in all greens, with a weapon from Kara, in the snow, uphill, both ways, with no shoes, but let's talk about mortals for a second. It's very hard for melee players who skill-wise are good enough for 1800 to get to 1800 anymore, fighting against people with PVE weapons, unless they have a PVE weapon themselves. Adding Deadly weapons, say, for honor or a minimal arena rating, would be trivial at this point compared to what else is out there. The only reason they aren't is to say "**** off, we said go raid." Just from a customer service perspective, that annoys the crap out of me.

That's just an example. All I'm saying is, these other activities are part of the game. They were developed as part of the game, they are offered as part of the game, and they are enjoyed by a large portion of the people who play the game. You should be able to progress through those things by doing those things, not by raiding to get gear so you can do those things.

Edited a sentence that made no sense so it makes slightly less no sense.

Almost everyone i know, including two guildies who made gladiator last season absolutely detest Arena, and how it's affected the game.

Yet they still play arena.

I hate the concept of hardmodes, yet I still raid because I love raiding.
I love the concept of arena but I can also see it's flawed in many ways right now.

In short, there's a difference between hating it and ******** about it.

Yeah, i think they just like pvp enough to tolerate it to obtain the best gear. It's kinda strange how niche a part of the whole WoW experience arena is, but it affects everything down to spell and ability balancing. I kinda wonder what WoW would be like if instead of Arena, some kind of push had been made for freeform outdoor world pvp.

I've been reading about Aion too much :P

After a fairly low level there, you go to a massive zone called the Abyss which is the source of most profession resources, experience points and gear upgrades outside of instanced dungeons. PvP in that game seems to be geared towards world pvp and ganking.

Err, this isn't particularly priest related actually. I have a priest! But no problems with her at all, i have enormous amounts of fun leveling as shadow, and helping oil the horde war machine as disc in BGs. Disc in particular is amazing fun.

It's a preference thing.
I enjoy world PvP, I hate BG's and WG with a passion, I love arena.
World PvP is usually just 1v1 with terrain where you can pull some crazy tricks to use the terrain to your advantage.
BG's are a cesspool of dribbling morons, nerd raging 13 year olds and afkers.
Arena is small scaled competitive and organized, with comps, tactics and counter comps.

Arena is just too quick and Blizz needs to fix 3v3, because RMP is so dominant it's stupid.

I'm pausing to consider which of these I am.

Of course it's a preference thing. It's great that all these things are in the game to serve so many different tastes. It's a shame that, increasingly, all paths to these things go through raiding.

And I am going to keep repeating myself over and over, because ******** is fun.

Excellent. I think it's an important reminder everyone should see at the bottom of each of your posts. Let's hope it doesn't start causing a trend of adverse reactions to said posts.

Edited for the winkie because sometimes my posts sound so shrewish when you can't hear me laughing: Smiley: wink

Yeah, I've seen my rogue in 3's obliterated in a GCD by failbots in raidgear one too many times.
And it sure ain't because he can't play because he has a couple characters at high ratings, it's just that his crap gear can't keep him up though bad players high PvE gear damage.

It's frustrating to see that you don't lose because of skill or mistakes on your part but pure brute force from a bladestorming warrior in PvE gear.

Then again, my hunter has the aforementioned PvE gear and I abuse it by blowing bad geared people up in 3 seconds, but at least I can still play a little bit instead of just charge > Spamstring > MS > Lolstorm.

But I LOVE charge>spamstring>ms>lolstorm. It's what's standing between me and the bad guys, usually.

Unless he's on his pally, which case it's even less buttons.

I'm glad to hear you've got the same problem on your rogue as I do, Aethien. You should do what I did; roll a prot character and go into the arenas with a paladin healer. That much survivability removes all burst from any match you'll play and while it makes your games last LONG (I've had a 32-minute match [which is funny, I thought you were supposed to get a draw after 30 minutes] and my average match that isn't against double DPS teams lasts between 10 and 20 minutes), it makes sure the matches become a lot more about CC, swapping targets at the right moment and peeling.

So as this thread was originally about being lucky =P, I figured I'd post this here as well...

I finally managed to get a group together for my 77 priest to go into Reg ToC (Respecced her to heal since my dps probably wouldn't do as well as most), and I was able to get these within two runs...

Yay
Yay
And even more, YAY!

This dropped as well during my second run in there, but I had to switch out for my shammy healer because of sub-par dps not taking the Confessor's shadow dude down fast enough. I just couldn't keep up with the damage on the priest. I was mad >< =( ... but all in all had a good time last night.
