There's plenty of information on the best rotation for each spec at 80.

However my warlock has hit level 20 and I'm wondering whats the best rotation for SFK, RFK, SM etc. I know stuff at that level will die easily enough, but I'd like to be as productive as possible. :)

I was thinking along the lines of simply casting immolate and Corruption on each target for trash, and adding CoA and some shadow bolts into the mix for bosses.

But since trash will likely die before my dots have a chance to tick.... should I just shadow bolt spam on trash instead?

So far I've talented affliction if that makes much of a difference.

edit: and when should I use rain of fire? How many mobs do I need in front of me before its worth casting?

I would use rain of fire on a group of mobs. You could also use corruption and CoA on each mob, but that's too tedious IMO.

Only use your full rotation on enemies who have enough health. For single mobs who wouldn't survive long enough, shadowbold is your only option I daresay.

I have no idea on how you've placed your talent points, but I'll assume full on Improved corruption and Improved Curse of Agony, with the res of the points somewhere in tier two...

In my opinion you should be able to take out single mobs with a simple Send in your Voidy, CoA, Corr, Life Tap, Drain Life (or Drain Soul if you need a shard). For Bosses, put Immolate in after Corruption - finish off by spamming Shadowbolts - renew your DoTs if they wear off. If you are fighting a group of mobs, make sure that your tank grabs aggro before you start anything, or you will drag mobs off him and they will come and kick your ... Anyhow, send the voidy in to also grab some of that aggro and use rain of fire. Oh, by the way - keep your pet on passive and recall him if he goes haring off after a runner.

Don't use it on groups of less than three, and never use it in an instance without a tank. With groups of less than three, it's a mana waster. Without a tank there keeping them off you, it's a life waster.

I've never had a problem with using a voidwalker in an instance. The main thing is that you have to keep him leashed by putting him on passive, so he doesn't go off and try to attack everything that menaces you. Unfortunately, voidwalkers have gotten a bad reputation from people who have kept the minion on protective when going into an instance. You also need to remember to dismiss your pet before you jump down into someplace and the minion must run through uncleared areas to reach you.

Especially for low level dungeons, the added health that your imp can provide to the group is the best reason to have him out. You won't need your VW for tanking, so be nice to the group and pull out your imp. Whatever you do though, keep them on passive (not sure how many parties I've accidentally laid waste to by forgetting to put my pet on passive)!

As far as a spell rotation works, it really depends on the group you're in and the quantity of mobs. If they're going down fast think like a mage... hard and fast. Spam shadow bolts and rain of fire at large groups. If the group is having some trouble taking down mobs, CoA and corruption are both instant cast and can do good damage so get em up as fast as you can and maybe add an immolate if need be. Then spam shadow bolt.

I usually the VW instead of my imp for the sacrifice. Could be the difference between living and dying and with our great DPS, our presence counts in instances. :)

for trash mobs with low hp i go corruption / coa on each then aoe with rain of fire.

be sure to get glyph of life tap early on (lvl 15) and be sure to life tap every 25-30 seconds for the extra spell power!

Any pet can remain on defensive in an instance, as long as you disable their taunts.

Also, when you reach a cliff, don't dismiss your pet. Instead, tell it to stay where it is, then jump. Right away, summon your eye of kilrogg and dismiss it. Doing so will cause the pet you had before to appear beside you. Saves on stones.

As for RoF, when leveling, I stayed away from using it. In most cases, it pulled too much agro to me. Granted their have been a few patches since I lvl'd, I'd prefer safe than sorry.

When lvling, quest grinding is faster than instances.
